Publisher's summary

Erin doesn't have time for a relationship. After six years of late nights and mind-numbing assignments as a marketing executive with the billion-dollar Silver Script Ad Agency, she finally landed the coveted Smithson Jewelers account - which means her love life will have to wait a little longer.

When the actress at the first commercial shoot upsets the director, Erin finds herself cast as the leading lady alongside Jake, a handsome up-and-coming actor, who rescued her cat from the streets and stole her heart.

Flustered, she walks away from the shoot wearing the diamond ring, leading her mom to believe she's truly engaged to Jake. Both are desperate enough to get their parents off their backs that they run with the lie.

Now, Jake and Erin have to figure out how to admit their story is false without hurting their parents or destroying the friendship they've gained with each other.

Well done sweet variation on the popular trope

This is a very sweet, fairly simple story with likable protagonists, and I enjoyed it all the way to the end. The moms were a bit over the top & way too invested in their adult kids' lives - not to mention interfering. And I couldn't believe that Erin & Jake were so passive about it. It made the plot feel a bit more contrived than I like. It wasn't egregious enough to significantly detract from my enjoyment of the story. Overall it was very good, the narrator did a great job, & I'm looking forward to exploring more of Jaclyn Hardy's work.

*Romance level: sweet kisses, nothing graphic

Fun modern romance

While I enjoyed listening to the story, the reader does need to suspend critical thinking. If you're OK with that, you'll love these characters and the fun story that Jaclyn Hardy has created. The auditor does a great job with voices and her narration is right on.

I recommend this book for all readers of romance.

A lovely story, well performed.

I enjoyed this book from start to finish. It is a light, mostly cheerful rendition of the fake-dating style of romance story. But although I could see where the story was going I was unwilling to stop listening to hear what happened next. If you are looking for an easy listening romance story, this one is for you. Teralyn Davis does a wonderful job of the character voices. The emotions and personalities for each character comes through clearly in the voice acting and each is distinct so it is easy to follow who is talking.
I would have listen straight through all 5 hours in one go if I hadn't needed sleep. Well done.

An Excellent Innocent Romance!

First and foremost please remember this is a work of fiction.

The author presents two main characters, Erin and Jake, and thrusts them into a mutually beneficial relationship.

The relationship is based on deceit and as a matter of convenience to quell the prodding and nagging of each of their parents to settle down.

The characters seem to embody traits that the author holds in high esteem such as kindness, generosity, a strong work ethic, and a strong religious upbringing.

The narrator brings these characters to life with all their insecurities and motivations giving the listener the innate ability to connect with them through their fears, hopes, and dreams. She also illustrates the two character”s main flaw in the telling of a little white lie. The lie snowballs and despite no malicious intention of their own results in the people
closest to them being hurt emotionally and financially.

Overall this is a clean, pure, innocent romance and the narrators eloquent relating of the story will thrust one into the middle of the story as if one was an additional character in the story.

If you are looking for a romance without graphic sexual content I highly recommend this title to you!
