About this listen

The girls' secret plan to surprise Asterios with an unforgettable birthday party was a complete success. Their personal presents were already considered very memorable, but he would never forget the day he was officially elected as a new nation's ruler with a unanimous vote from Glimmervale's residents, not to mention being recognized by the monarchs of humans, demons, and elves. The Dragon Valley's struggles only began, and the dungeon that had manifested beneath the country would be the least of its worries.

With the nation established, the dungeon secured, and the plans for a grand academy arranged, Lord Asterios and his Ladies will take the ultimate test of leading a thriving community into real greatness. They have all the good cards in their deck, but can they build a powerful hand? With things getting widely spread, can they keep their lucky streak going? And most importantly, will they finally fulfill the pledges made with Abyss and Umbra?

Well, they are certainly going to try, even if it means making sure that their new community can stand on its own first, ready to face interdimensional horrors in case their upcoming expedition into the Nethernight Realm goes haywire.

The next installment of Saileri's epic work.

Another great collaboration of the literary genius of J.R. Saileri and the incredible voice talents of Jonathan Waters and Ellory Lane. Growth and minor troubles abound as Asterios and crew grow their new kingdom and prepare for their next great adventure. #noSpoilersHere

the trip to learn tearing through the relms.

rules. it was over so fast.
Really, it's all the little things that will need a book just to tie it all together.
The bard, did she get an offer to join Ashe's entourage, the dragon guard?

Filler?

I couldn’t help but feel that there were segments of this episode that were little more than filler; the Seelie and Frog segments, for example. What did these actually add to the story arc? I dunno - perhaps the author has figured out how these will be significant in future episodes, but for now, they’re little better than ill-conceived filler.

And then there are those exceptionally long, run-on sentences. I called those out in the Kindle editions, but to now hear them in the Audible edition? They are PAINFUL, to be sure, but to hear a member of the voice actor team deliver these lines in THE most disconnected voice possible pretty much tells me that at least one voice actor is not invested.

I get that the male VA has very few voice characterizations while the female VA has MULTIPLE voices to portray. It just seemed to me that the VA delivering these extraordinarily long run-on sentences was completely checked out and delivered these lines in THE most disconnected, emotionless, and monotone voice possible. I’m very sure that the narration team will disagree, but to everyone who has listened to this Audible book. You’ll know what I’m referring g to.

But back to the Audible representation of the written word. While I admire this author and LOVE this series, I feel volume 10 is the absolute WORST volume of this series. Some great moments, to be sure, but buttressed by meaningless segments that don’t appear to advance the story in anyway way, shape, or form.

My review is based on two things;

1) the gobbledygook story given to the voice actors.
2) the horrible character characterization from one of the voice actors.

Is this author simply tiring of this series? Is he content with putting out junk while he focuses on a new series? Fortunately, I’m a KU member, so I can preview these books before purchasing them. Volume 10 of Rise of the Weakest Summoner turned out to be crap, and will be the last that I pre-purchase. I’m absolutely OK with checking out at volume 10 if the next, and subset volumes turn out to be little more than a cash grab.

Mr. Author - you NEED todo better.

Meandering

This one kind of meandered all over the place, which isn't a bad thing unless you were impatient for them to reach their next objective. As for the girls, I really can't stand Grea. She needs to go. She adds nothing to any scene other than instant cringe. Also, I don't think the girls need a loving/caring kiss EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY SAY OR DO SOMETHING. This is especially true of Miria. Just picture the scenes in your head as they are playing out and you can imagine just how obnoxious and juvenile this truly is. I still like this series a lot, but sometimes I wonder why.

Great😁

It’s getting better every time I hear a new volume, I am truly enjoying where the story is going thus far. I truly look forward to volume 11. It’s just only a shame. I have to wait almost a whole year to hear the next volume.
