Publisher's summary

New from the national best-selling author of Deathwish. It's time to lock, load, and hit the road... Once, while half-human Cal Leandros and his brother Niko were working on a case, an ancient gypsy queen gave them a good old-fashioned backstabbing. Now, just as their P.I. business hits a slow patch, the old crone shows up with a job. She wants them to find a stolen coffin that contains a blight that makes the Black Death seem like a fond memory. But the thief has already left town, so the Leandros brothers are going on the road. And if they're very, very lucky, there might even be a return trip...

Worth a listen, love it!

Really enjoy this series. author keeps you on your toes and keeps it pretty interesting plus intense at times; great story teller. The narrator is by far one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of listening to; does the voice and dramatizes the text with his voice. Very impressed and pleased. :)

Catcher almost made me cry

MacLeod Andrew's performance as Catcher was perfect, and he did a great job changing his voice enough for the different characters

Another amazing story by Rob Thurman!

MacLeod Andrew’s narration truly brings Cal and Niko world to life. I find myself drawn to his voice and the creative way he is able to change his voice with each character. And it helps that the plot and storyline is beyond entertaining. My fav author with my fav narrative equals a happy listener.

Disappointing

I have 5 hours and 17 min left and I am not feeling this book. I love the series. After reading the first 2 books I purchased the complete set. I am a century cyclist. That is right, I ride 100 miles on my road bike at one time. Since I am on my bike for 6 - 8 hours I like to have a good book.

If I had something else on my Ipod I would have changed it. As it was I had 8 hours of background noise. My dilemma, torture myself to keep up with the story, or drop this and catch up in the next book.

Well before I was really into my ride I become a little put off because Rob had so much back story right at the start. That is when my attention began to waver and nothing really grabbed me after that.

I thought it was just me so I read a few reviews and other readers felt the same. This has disappointed me to the point I will take a break from the series and read something else. I am an Audible member and I am returning this for a refund.

Usually a disappointing book in a series I enjoy would get 3 stars. But not this one. I am slightly pissed I was stuck .with this book for 8 hours and it was just background noise. I dropped a star because I was so inconvenience.

Characters Ruined

I don't very often write reviews, but I have to say that this novel ruined the entire series for me. I would rather not spoil it for anyone who might enjoy this so I will not go into details. This novel does things with it's characters that seem designed to defeat the entire purpose of writing a solidly continuing story. It feels, to me, like the idea of having characters fail to realize their potential is all this author knows how to do. There is no overcoming faults in this story, there are only failures and going to the second option. Even in real life people get things right sometimes, but no one seems to learn from their previous mistakes in this story. It's simply a repetitive beating down the characters. I usually am willing to stick with a series that I previously liked because author's are human too, so not everything they do is going to be perfect in my opinion. My opinion is mine. However this book managed to get me to think the eight deadly words. I don't care what happens to these people.
