Unpredictable and Intriguing

Roanoke Island Murderers was written by Joe c. Ellis and narrated by Robert Ferraro. After a long-lost journal written by Eleanor Dare, one of the original members of Roanoke Island's Lost Colony, is discovered in a precarious location. Detective Weston Wolf is drawn into this web of deception and murder by a beautiful woman who claims to be a descendant of the dairy's author. As the bodies pile up, Wolf must untangle this web to save his own neck. This detective story is a solid read. The author was able to make the conversations between characters seem natural while keeping the story moving. From the beginning to the end, the plot twists and action didn't stop. As soon as I thought I had this read figured out I was proven wrong. I really enjoyed how the main character gets caught up in the excitement then has inner turmoil about his actions after the dust settles. If you like detective books combined with being continually caught off guard pick up this one.

The narrator Robert Ferraro did an exceptional job, being a perfect match for the tone of this book. The fact that he is an award-winning performer is evident from the first chapter to the last. His only shortcoming for this story is during long conversations between characters. At that point, the characters start to sound too similar.

Editing, quality, and production were on par with most books I have listened to. It was clear, with no issue with sound or quality.

A great detective mystery

This was a great mystery written in the classic detective story style. This narrator had the perfect storytelling voice. I thought he was Weston Wolf! Who is Weston Wolf? He's a detective who is anything but perfect, but he's damned good at his job. A woman comes to him claiming that her friend is missing. That starts a whole cluster of events that lead to a rare diary that is wanted by many different people. And none of them are the good guys. Weston Wolf is thrown in the middle of it all, but he knows how to play his cards right. He is set to solve the mystery and also gain some benefit for himself. I loved every second of it. I was on the edge of my seat. This story is full of mystery, danger, some romance, and lots of intrigue. I definitely would like to check out more in this series.

I can't believe it

It seems every time I think I got a good audio book to review, the language and content take a dive into the world of inappropriate. I keep needing to find new ways to express an old issue to review. I didn't even get far enough into this one to be able to review it without fast forwarding further into the book. What can I say? I am very offended at the language used. I hear enough of it in the real world and don't want to purposely feed it into my mind when reading. I think the story was good, the narrator did a great job, and I'm sorry not to be able to continue with the book. To the author I would say, improve your vocabulary so that your characters can speak with clean words. There are plenty of those to use!

Not my favorite

The narrator was putting me to sleep. I also do not like when the narrator does a different voice for men and women. It sounds strange. Get two narrators if that’s what you want
