Publisher's summary

Frances Arnsby has only three weeks to learn about romance. That’s all the time she has before the stagecoach whisks her back to Deadwood. Excited about a glowing future as a romance dime novelist, her hopes are dashed when her manuscript fails to connect. She hasn’t lived enough. Her dream will be over before it even starts if she doesn’t add life, love…passion.

Chief reporter Clive Davidson is intrigued by the vibrant woman submitting her work to the paper. But when his plan to help goes horribly wrong, he must decide if teaching her about romance is worth the risk…to his career and his heart.

As Frances enters a world of upper crust dalliances and deception, she discovers that perhaps Clive was right all along: romance in the stories are just that…fiction. Her career means the world to her, but if she can’t learn what true love really means, it could cost more than she ever thought possible.

Wonderful!

Kari Trumbo has written a sweet story that everyone will feel all of the emotions. A woman that wants to be a writer and a newspaper man find themselves in the up’s and down’s of life and love. Meghan Kelly did a fantastic job bringing it to life narrating it. I would recommend this one to anyone.

Very nice continuation to this serie

The author wrote these as if you had to read it as a stand alone, or out of order you wouldn’t be lost. She puts in just enough of the past books to make the reader not lost but not to much that it’s repeat for those who have read them.
The storyline is different than the other books, taking you to a new town and townlife versus the ranch. And she gives you just a hint of what the next book will be.
The reader did an ok job in this book, doing very well on everyone but the main character (8n my opinion) she chang3s voices and tones which I really like. But the main character she made to whiney don5 know if that was ms Megan making her that way or that’s what the author wanted. Either way I felt she was more independentthan all the whining. But over all nice to listen to.

Charming romance

Romance in Rapid is a charming romance in the Seven Brides of South Dakota series by Kari Trumbo. Although fourth in the series, it is easily a stand-alone story. I have enjoyed several other books by this author and was looking forward to reading this book and was not disappointed. The story moves quickly with a few twists and turns to the plot that helped to keep my interest. Frances is a naive young woman who has written a dime romance novel. Yet she has never experienced real romance. During a visit with her 'pen pal', Constance, a rather self-centered and spoiled hostess, Frances asks Clive, a newspaper reporter, to help her get the book published. He recognizes that the book needs a lot of work and that the author perhaps needs to experience true love. He sets her up with a visiting Englishman. And the adventures, or perhaps misadventures, begin. The author has captured well the era of the setting and the emotions and actions of her characters. They are realistic and relatable and I was drawn quickly into their story and enjoyed watching the romance develop between Clive and Frances. Readers of historical romance books will not want to miss this one. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audio version of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own. Meghan Kelly does a great job narrating Clive and Frances's story, which made the listening experience enjoyable.

Sweet, entertaining romance

Romance in Rapid is a great addition to the Seven Brides of South Dakota Series, yet it works as a stand-alone. I like Kari Trumbo’s writing more and more with each book I listen to. She writes good, clean, western romance with a bit of historical information. I thought this storyline was unique, and I appreciate a story that’s different from so many in the same genre. Meghan Kelly is a good fit for this western romance.

Great Read

Romance in Rapid (Seven Brides of South Dakota) was a great read by Kari Trumbo. Frances is a young aspiring author who has only three weeks to learn about romance. At the end of the three weeks the stage coach will whisk her back to her hometown. Clive is intrigued by Frances but he plans to teach her about romance to help her write. I absolutely loved reading Frances and Clive's story and can't wait to read more by Kari Trumbo.

Will she find out what love is about?

I will not summarize this story because it was already given in the description of this book. The purpose of this review was to give potential readers information to make an informed decision about reading/listening to this book.

What I liked:

• The author caught my attention right from the beginning and drew me into the story with Francine's determination to publish her dime store novel.
• Clive and Francine were characters that you wanted to discover more about as you read. Their romance grew at a believable pace.
• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done and easy to visualize and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.
• I admire the author's historical accuracy.
• The pacing of the story was neither too slow nor too fast.
• There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book and it was well edited.
• This story had a satisfying ending.
• This novel was a clean read.
• I did not find this Christian historical romance preachy. Religion was just a natural part of the characters' lives. No lectures.
• The narrator did an excellent job in differentiating the various characters' voices.

I was given a free audiobook by the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own.

Is there any such thing as romance?

Frances Arnsby sets out to sell her manuscript and become a novelist, but she’s told that her writing isn’t realistic. When she’s put in a situation to try and experience the real emotions, she gets more than she bargained for.

Kari Trumbo has written a sweet historical romance with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing about whether or not there will be a happily ever after.

If you’re looking for a top notch narrator, look no further than Meghan Kelly. She always does a fantastic job with the different characters and bringing out the emotions that they are experiencing.

The combination of Kari Trumbo and Meghan Kelly is an automatic listen for me!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Men and Romance💕

l don't think l have ever listened to a story set in the original settlers era. let me tell you it was an eye opener to see how much a news paper article could make or break a life. l was quite indignant on behalf of the ladies concerned and later on a little scared that anyone could have their future dictated for them.
l could never live in a time like that, I'd either be hiding in a closet or never leave the farm.
The story kept my interest throughout and l enjoyed the narration of the many townsfolk and Francis .
