Publisher's summary

A man with a heart-stopping fear.
An exhausted single father.
Both fated to save each other.

Lance’s abject fear of water won’t stop him from designing the interior of the island-bound Castle Harbor resort. Yet a close call brings him in contact with the stunning local captain of a boat touring company. Can he overcome his phobia to find love?

Quinn is a single father to his adopted nephew, the pair still raw after losing Quinn's sister. Meeting a new, gorgeous man is entirely unexpected, but very well received. Still, he needs something more permanent than an interior designer in town for a few weeks.

When the project promises more than expected, will Lance decide to make it a long-term affair?

This single dad or instant family romance audiobook is sweet, steamy, and savory. Only for adults. In Castle Harbor, there are no cheaters - only happily ever afters. This audiobook and every other audiobook in the Castle Harbor Series can be listened to in any order.

another great addition to the series

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Were there any parts I found annoying: no
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: yes

Story comments: Another great instalment to the Castle Harbor Series. Two guys, both fighting their own demons, work through their issues to what 's really important.

Narrator comments: Austin Jay has done a good job narrating Rough Waters. The personalities of each character were distinct but I would have liked a little more tonal difference between Lance and Quinn. I really enjoyed the energy little Sam added to the story.

A Must Read

This book gives the reader a view a small island business owner and some of the issues that they have. The person that did the voices of the characters, did an excellent job.

Just right! I love this book!

I almost listened to "Rough Waters" in one sitting. Funny thing is that, since Audible doesn't show you how much of the book is remaining (only how much of the current chapter remains), the ending just snuck up on me. Don't misunderstand. It's not like I'm saying the ending was rushed or anything like that. It's just that I'd found myself caught up in this beautiful love story that I did not want it to end. I mean, when I heard the word "Epilogue", I was disappointed while simultaneously knowing "Yeah, that was the perfect ending and now it's time to wrap it up." I was kinda sad because, in those short,, fast 4 hours and 27 minutes, I'd fallen in love with the characters and their world.
I fell in love with this book. It is perfect, from beginning to end. Just right.

J.P. Oliver, congratulations on doing such a wonderful job. I can tell you put your heart into this because the story itself has so much heart in it. I do have one minor question. I'll leave it at the end of the review since it could, I suppose, be construed by someone to be a spoiler. It's not a big deal sort of question... just something I was wondering.

Austin Jay, you did a terrific job helping me get so engrossed in their story.
Oh! I should mention... I set the speed to 1.5 because the reading, when I began, did seem slow. It might have been a difficult listen at normal speed for the entire duration. That is not a knock by any means. Just for any other reader who might think it is too slow that they can do that, too. (I use speed adjustment frequently).
If I have any criticism of the job you did narrating, it would be that the voices of Quinn and Lance were a bit too similar. Quinn, as we learn from Lance, has a deep voice and it would have been nice to hear what Lance heard... to hear that difference reflected in how we hear each of them. (At times I forgot which MC I was listening to and needed the context of what was being said to know). Anyhow, I wouldn't knock you down a star for that. Just a bit of advice for your next time reading -- when there are two MCs who tell their side of the story -- to give each of them a unique sound to their voice, as if there were two different people assigned to read/narrate the part of each MC. (In a way, narrators of audiobooks should be like actors). I loved the way you did the voice of Sam. Adorable!

Finally... and this is what could, perhaps, be construed by someone as a SPOILER so if anyone reading this doesn't wanna take a chance...
stop reading now....
….
My question is basically only for the author, but not something that takes away from the story (though it might have added to the story).
I'm wondering if I missed something. In the last half of the book, toward the end, we hear of a beautiful Instagram picture that Lance had taken, but I cannot remember if it was mentioned, at the time the picture was taken, that he took it. Seems like I would remember that. I am into photography myself so this might not really matter to anyone else. Anyhow, I would have liked the details, like what was going through Lance's mind when he took the picture. Again, maybe that's just me.

Great job, sir. I look forward to your next book! This one was terrific.

Sweet; Loved Sam!

I loved this sweet romance between a man who fears water and a man who lives on the water. I really enjoyed how these two characters came together and made a potentially short-term encounter into a family. Aside from the core water-based drama, there is a secret that explodes near the end with the potential to destroy everything. That got cleaned up maybe a little too quickly, but this is still a very sweet story, and I love seeing how the town functions in the shadow of a looming resort. I loved Sam and the way he helped Lance overcome his fear of stepping foot on the boat, and I loved the way Lance eventually looked past the past and overcame his guilt.

Good narration, especially the way he voiced Sam!

I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request. This is my honest, voluntary review.

Another Castle Harbor Hit!

Our two main characters are broken and in need of someone to put them back together. Both of them have lost their sisters in very different ways and both are scarred because of it. Lance lost his sister when they were younger to drowning and he is deathly afraid of water ever since. Quinn lost his sister to cancer right after her son was born and Quinn gave up his life and future to raise her infant son as his own. They both feel that they don't have time for a relationship. Lance hides behind his career and Quinn hides behind Sam his nephew/son. He thinks that he can't have anything for himself because of being a father to Sam. The guys try really hard to fight it, but thank goodness love wins out and they work through all the crap they thought was so important to get to their Happy Ending!!

GREAT READ!

I really enjoyed it! The narration was great and kept me entertained. Although this is the 3rd book in this series, it wasn't hard to follow. Of course it would be nice to have a history of previous characters but not necessary. The author does a great job with the character builds and plot. This is not my first book by this author and definitely not my last. I look forward to reading more books in this series. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great series

This was a good read. Ok well listen. LOL. I am really enjoying this series.

Lance has a fear of water and meets Quinn who runs boat tours. Quinn is a single father that doesn’t date as his focus is his son

They have an instant spark and great chemistry. I love how their relationship developed and never saw the twist coming that threatened their relationship

Narrator has done a great job with not only this book but the series. Onto the next book

rough waters

your heart aches for both these guys with past baggage. I liked that they helped each other overcome their past and move forward. I liked Lance's integrity. Even though Quinn wanted to cut ties, Lance still sought legal advice for Quinn and Sam via his dad. I liked that unselfish act at a time when things were rough between the guys. The narrator greatly added to the listening experience.
