This is the book that got my non-reader to begin reading. Engaging, fun, just the right amount of suspense.

Perfect story for kids

Rowan's story begins slow in the first couple books. More contemplative, introspective filled with self-doubt. Quite unlike Deltora stories. Despite being hailed a hero by the end of book 1, he will continually face dismissal by the people. The series does not push us to a conclusion - we must hang on to find out where the story is going. Kinda like real-life growing up, except few of us are as insightful under pressure as young Rowan.

Not a page-turner series, but worth the time spent
