About this listen

His name is Royal, but he's no prince charming. He's not even a prince - though you could say I loved him once upon a time.

He was my older brother's best friend. Growing up, he sat at our dinner table every Sunday, teased me mercilessly, and pretended I annoyed him. When I was old enough, he took me on my first date.

Royal taught me how to drive. Escorted me to my junior prom. Gave me my first kiss...among other things. He was my first taste of toe-curling, all-consuming, can't-sleep love.

We had our whole lives ahead of us. There was never anyone else for me but him. And then he disappeared. No letter. No explanation. Not even a good-bye.

I've spent the last seven years trying in vain to forget my first love, but just when I think I've finally moved on, guess who's back in town?

Good story, drags out.

I enjoyed the story, but it took way too long to get where it was going.

it kept me interested

It seemed a little drawn out and part of the story was wildly unbelievable. I stuck with it to know what happened to all the main characters.

A Royal Mess

Not often do I come across a story that is agonizing to finish,but...unfortunately this one was.Over all the story was all right, might've been better to have read the book instead of listening to it.Eric London(the male narrator)was awful in doing some of the female characters, some sounded like a drag queen with a bad cold...CJ wasn't too much better since she told the story to you like you were an elementary school kid sitting on the floor.I don't understand how the"police"back in the day allowed a 40 year old man to keep a 15 year old girl who wasn't related to him or his foster child, how did that get overlooked?I recommend reading the story,it might be better.

Lacking

This story is extremely predictable and just annoying to follow - I couldn't finish the book.

Loved Listening To A Favorite Book

I find it interesting how listening to one of the first books I ever read by Winter Wrenshaw has me seeing it in a different light. I found myself not liking the female protagonist as much as I remembered the first time around --could be that I have become more hardened to female leads with * ahem * age, or it was something else!
Regardless, i still enjoyed the audio and stole every moment I had to listen and am excited to revisit the rest of the books that paved the way to Wenshaw Fandom.
I enjoy both these narrators work, their kids' voices ... seemed rather forced.. ( not that I could do any better ) but otherwise was an enjoyable experience for me!

Great story

It was a good book, with great moment, I went on a roller coaster of emotions Royal and Demi’s relationship was everything they ever needed and wanted but life was cruel and things happened that we’re not expected.. after many years of knowing each other and loving each other life plays a trick on them.. now Royal needs to work hard to get the woman he loves or he will lose everything he ever wanted.

The narrations by CJ Bloom and Eric London were great giving the characters and the story more depth and making it even more enjoyable.

Overall it was a good read.

okay not great

overall good story line but the author drug it out way more than necessary. it took me about 3 times longer than normal to finish because I kept getting so frustrated with how drawn out it was and just exiting out the app. the narrator's weren't bad I found CJ to be a bit whiney but not terrible. this one will probably just sit in my library and not be touched again

Pretty Good

The story was enjoyable and I liked the two main characters, Royal and Demi. But I'm still angry that Demi's parents didn't have to do some graveling to get back into Royal's good graces after his sister told the truth. Their abandonment of the young Royal was a far greater crime than the author addressed. I needed a few more paragraphs of the elder lawyer and his wife begging forgiveness.
