Publisher's summary

Run by Mandasue Heller is a gritty story of Manchester's criminal underworld.

After being cheated on by her ex, Leanne Riley is trying her hardest to get her life back on track, which isn't easy without a job and living in a bedsit surrounded by a junkie and a madwoman.

On a night out with her best friend, she meets Jake, a face from her past who has changed beyond all recognition. Jake is charming, handsome and loaded, a far cry from the gawky teenager he used to be. Weary of men, Leanne isn't easy to please, but Jake tries his best to break through the wall she's built around herself. But good looks and money can hide a multitude of sins. Is that good-looking face just a mask? And what's more, what will it take to make it slip, and who will die in the process?

RUN and pick this book up!

Would you consider the audio edition of Run to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, but Colleen Prendergast is a great narrator and her performance brought the story to life.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character is probably Chrissy- she's a powerhouse of a woman and shows great strength and kindness to her friend Leanne as Sheila getting together with her new boyfriend Jake. Although Jake seems to be the perfect boyfriend, Chrissy always has her friend's back. Also, she endures as the strength behind her family, dealing with a sick mother and a sister who doesn't show up for her son or anyone else. The characters get themselves in trouble trying to weave their webs in this book. Chrissy always has her eye out.

What does Colleen Prendergast bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great narrator!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The book made me smile many times when the characters had good fortune, and cringe when they sometimes found big trouble.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this story. It's the second Mandasue Heller book I have read and it is impressive- totally held my interest throughout. While I thought I was good at predicting where things were headed, I ended up being surprised at the number of twists and turns that kept me guessing. I highly recommend "Run" to listeners who enjoy a good British suspense tale like I do!

This was my first Audio book.

I love Mandasue Heller and I've been reading her books since I was a new teen so listening to this has been a much different experience.
Despite having a giggle or two at the profanity being read out in a bit of a posh accent I do think the voice over was compelling enough to keep me the whole way through and I could still tell the story was a Mandasue.
The story itself was decent, not as full as her other books and the characters not quite as loveable but I enjoyed it all the same.
