Publisher's summary

An emotion driven dark fantasy.

Katie’s friends, family, and loving boyfriend have kept her from drowning in a sea of crippling anxiety. Now, a handful of medications help her through the stressful college life.

Until Matthew.

Katie becomes inexplicably and unnaturally drawn to him. Her decisions no longer feel like her own. Thrust into his world of secrets, manipulations, and betrayals, she is swept up in a torrent of emotions she can’t control. When the ties with her loved ones are severed, her world closes in. She can only see one way of escape.

Death.

But instead of finding peace in the afterlife, Katie is caught in the midst of an ancient supernatural war. When the angels have the power to control her, Katie must fight back or risk corruption and become Matthew’s sacrificial lamb.

Thirteen reasons, what dreams may come, and legion

The female lead voice was really great in my opinion. especially with the content and feelings she had to convey which are not easy too always deal with or accept.
The male narrator sounded like a computer to start (imo) which made it hard to relate to him until later in the book and even then mostly through the eyes of the female main.
The story is overall really good with some hard truths most people will be uncomfortable with. If you can get through the rough subjects to the real cause of the pain I'm sure you'll find some healing light.
My only issue with the story is the climax felt a bit rushed.

I wish I could only do it by half a star. There are some wonderful bits of imagery and strength building. Words that people struggling I hope hear. I hope to hear more on this story later where I'm sure it will leap up and grab ahold of you. I hope others enjoy it as much as I did.
