About this listen
What makes a person sadistic? What drives a person to hurt another human being? What are the connections of sadism and sociopathy to psychopathy or a messed-up childhood?
These are some of the things we’ll touch on in this extensive guide. We will explore the definitions and applications of the above-mentioned terms, as well as analyze the psychopath brain in further depth. Moreover, some chapters will go over how to spot a psychopath or sociopath more easily, how you can recognize it in children, or how to interact with someone like that. The audiobook will close with a short overview of some of the evilest people in the world, all of which had sociopath tendencies in one degree or another, and even sadistic ones. If this is your thing, then I encourage you to start listening to this audiobook.

Story
There are a lot of personality disorders, so many, sometimes, that we lose track. Personally, I know someone with schizophrenia, several people who have narcissist traits, autism, and ADHD that run in my own family, and even a few people diagnosed with borderline disorder. Disorders are a part of society, whether you like it or not. We may feel, at times, that those disorders cause people to act "strange" or "rude" or "manipulative". And this may be true, but if we understand the disorders, we can more easily guess where it came from and handle them more appropriately, too.

If you want to see through all that, take off your pink glasses and step into the world of dark psychology.

The memoir of a neuroscientist whose research led him to a bizarre personal discovery, James Fallon had spent an entire career studying how our brains affect our behavior when his research suddenly turned personal. While studying brain scans of several family members, he discovered that one perfectly matched a pattern he’d found in the brains of serial killers. This meant one of two things: Either his family’s scans had been mixed up with those of felons or someone in his family was a psychopath.

Masochism is a part of us. It lives inside workaholics, tattoo enthusiasts, and all manner of garden variety pain-seekers.

Lurking beneath the progressive activism and sex positivity in the 1970 to '80s, a dark undercurrent of violence rippled across the American landscape. With reported cases of sexual assault and homicide on the rise, the FBI created a specialized team - the “Mindhunters”, better known as the Behavioral Science Unit - to track down the country's most dangerous criminals. And yet narrowing down a seemingly infinite list of potential suspects seemed daunting at best and impossible at worst - until Dr. Ann Wolbert Burgess stepped on the scene.

Next, we’ll go into the best ways to spot manipulators, how to outsmart them, and how to see through the hidden signs of aggression. Story
Although highly controversial, Hervey Cleckley's Mask of Sanity provides one of the most influential clinical descriptions of psychopathy in the 20th century. At the crux of his argument, Cleckley claims that many psychopathic personalities go undiagnosed because they maintain a social mask that conceals their mental disorder and enables them to blend in with society. Furthermore, many of these affected individuals appear to function normally in accordance with standard psychiatric criteria.

True
When you look at how people turn out to be, it can be related to genes, but more often than not, it's related to a lack of love in their childhood. Serial killers like Ted Bundy hardly ever stood a chance to become normal, seeing the way they were "raised." And understanding sociopaths doesn't excuse some of their behavior, but it does help us reflect on society and wonder how we can reduce the number of sadistic scumbags, rather than encourage it through movies like "Saw".

Scary but true
The cover makes it look like they are twins: Sociopathy and Sadism. I think there is definitely truth in that. Also, the cover makes it look a bit like a horror story, but it's all facts and thoughts, nonfiction. This is what I was looking for anyway, and it makes me understand human beings better. So I give this book a big, fat 5 stars. But that's just me.

Love the cover
One always wonders how people turn out to be so apathetic, or why they end up torturing others, or completely screwing them over without even caring. Well, this book sheds more light on that. I found the information to be refreshing and creepy at the same time. It's sad that things like that can happen to people and that it has an influence on the next generation. I actually know a few people who are a little sadistic, and I have to admit that when I'm in rage, I suddenly stop caring about other people's feelings a little more.

broad Primer for Laymen
I got this hoping to use it for my writing as I want to be accurate about the psychological aspects of my character which is based on so e one I've known but may be too subjective about. Because of the title and the specific way it. slides to a small aspect of the antisocial personality I thought I'd learn about those areas with more astute and focused attention on that peculiar pathology. Instead of was general and redundant.
