About this listen
Can you imagine what it would be like to meet Paul the Apostle?
You are invited to encounter Paul and his remarkable legacy as never before. Your guide is world-renowned Pauline expert Fr. Ronald Witherup, Superior General of the Sulpician Order.
Arguably, Paul's influence on Christianity has been greater than that of any other writer. The 13 epistles attributed to Paul have influenced great figures of Christian history from St. Augustine to Martin Luther to contemporary theologians, as well as an untold number of believers.
And yet, St. Paul has posed problems for many people. He has been misunderstood as distorting the message of Jesus, leading true Christianity astray, promoting misogyny, and encouraging negative attitudes toward human sexuality. Still, many find his letters sublime and encouraging.
Through these thoughtful lectures, you will enter Paul's world, understand his life, see his conversion unfold, examine his theology, and explore his letters.
You simply cannot understand Christianity without understanding this remarkable Apostle and his works, which remain life-changing and controversial two millennia after they were written. Now you can take a fascinating 24-lecture audio course on Paul by one of the Catholic Church's leading experts, whenever and wherever you want.
This course is part of the Learn25 collection.

Story
The four Gospels are foundational to Christianity. Yet Christian readers are often puzzled by the differences between the Gospels, preferring to harmonize the four into a single narrative. Now, this 24-part lecture course invites you to understand each Gospel's distinctive message. Along the way, you will examine theories about how the three Synoptic Gospels are related. You will also learn why the evangelists are symbolized by four living creatures: the man or angel, the lion, the ox, and the eagle.

Story
The four books of the Summa contra Gentiles were written by Thomas Aquinas between 1259-1265, before the considerably larger and more influential, Summa Theologica. The purpose of each work was different. Whereas the Summa Theologica addressed the faithful, especially theology students, the intention of the Summa Contra Gentiles (Systematic Exposition Against Non-Christians) was to speak to a non-aligned and even hostile audience. To that purpose, Aquinas presented arguments ‘refuting specific beliefs or heresies.'

The Gospel of Luke and Acts of the Apostles are two parts of a single triumphant work. Each an epic work in its own right, together they proclaim the gospel message and narrate the gripping story of the Church’s early days. Using the metaphor of a double helix, Fr. William Burton asks you to imagine Luke’s gospel and Acts as a single account with many parallels or rungs connecting the two sides of the twisted ladder.

Great overview of Paul
Gave a great overview of Paul’s ministry and his message. Context and clues also provided some important components in understanding Paul’s letters and main intentions. It was my first book on Paul and I really liked it.
