Publisher's summary

When an ambitious teenage girl from Earth finds herself in a magical realm, she could be the hero—but she'd prefer to be the villain.

When power-hungry Everly is reborn into a medieval world where elemental magic rules and she receives her elemental servants—the oddly sadistic Eris and the fun-loving Titania—years earlier than one typically would, she knows she's destined for a command of necromantic magic the likes of which her peers can only dream.

Though she's the bastard daughter of a count and a precariously positioned concubine, Everly is determined to be a conqueror, warlord, and queen. She could be the hero of the realm, the person to save everyone, with her protectors—the Silver Lance—and her beautiful mage lover by her side.

But Everly's no hero. She's an aspiring villain, seeking the freedom that comes with doing wrong. And before long, she'll make everyone fear the name of the Empress . . .

The first volume of the hit portal fantasy series—with more than 400,000 views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Harley Quinn, an isekai

There is no better, clearer, or more concise way to describe the MC than Harley Quinn. Utterly insane, quirky, evil, and joyous. No punches are pulled. This isn’t your tabletop “evil” campaign. It’s fucking dark at times. Oh and the banter is wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.

The author does an excellent job portraying a truly insane mind and one who is evil for evils sake.

However there are a few points that did annoy me. While it is plainly clear that the protagonist is **not** by any means morally good. They continually end up facing off against… worse individuals. For a story supposed to be about an insane narcissistic megalomaniac, she quite often runs into people literally just as evil, and occasionally more so, than her. It comes off as the world trying to be “evil” to make her less reproachable, but falls flat imo. She isn’t supposed to be in the right, she doesn’t need to be, yet it feels like great effort is taken to make it feel that way at times.

The story can be… convoluted jumping to various perspectives without much explanation as to why, and IMO spending too much time in said perspectives rather than following the MC.

Still, 4/5 on story, enjoyed it just mentioned my two biggest complaints for awareness.

Thoughtless insanity

I generally enjoy villain stories so I had high hopes for this one. And while Everly is definitely a villain, she is also my least favourite type unfortunately. The shallow and truly insane kind with no plan, motivation, or method to the madness other than being bad.

The writing isn't bad and the performance is pretty good. However that alone is not enough to make up for such an unlikable lead character in my opinion.

If that kind of story and character is your cup of tea though you'll probably enjoy this one.

A psychopath with middle school syndrome

I liked the story it was interesting and some parts I didn’t want to stop listening however the narrator had some terrible voices she went through. The main character was perfect and pleasant to listen to but some of the female characters and male characters were just horrendous I honestly thought one of the characters was going to start calling everyone Mr. J cause they tried to sound like Harley Quinn from the animated Batman series. Other then a few whiny voices for male characters it was a great listen

fantastic story

it's so rare to find a well written villain character. this isn't an anti hero, it's an actual villain, and she is wonderful.

Character personalites

Loved the change of theme of the main character being transferred to a different world and then being a hero. Love that the main character chooses her own path. Whether it be saving people or killing people that don’t fit in her narrative. Also love that she isn’t swayed by her servants just because they feel like she should listen to them. But only listens to them when they appease her selfishness

Psychotic

Kind of like watching a train wreck. It's terrible, but oddly captivating. Not going to continue this series.

Brilliant and Funny

As a fan of Isekai, this book was a fresh view of an old trope. It was full of modern references, and the world building was immersive. Despite the book taking place in a very oversaturated market, I found myself laughing and feeling deeply for each character. The villainess aspect of the story was also entertaining, and has you hoping that someone stops her. (Secretly, you do want her to succeed in world domination) The performance of the book was very entertaining, and brought many of the great characters to life. Loved this book and can't wait for more!!!!

I loved and hated it. 5 stars

I have to view it as almost a philosophical exploration of what makes a villian. even the villains that would normally be worse than the evil MC we're more empathetic than the MC in a lot of ways. I wanted to quit during the paladin village bit because it could have been a 5 minutes scene instead of like 60 ish.

in a way it's so horrible that it's almost a critique of the audience for even reading it.

but they also brought it all together in the end, and I laughed out loud, in public, multiple times while listening to it, so I can't really give it a bad review because it delivered a villian MC too well, and gave me lots of feelings.
