The day Clara started her new (dream) job as an assistant to her photography idol, she was met with an assumption that caught her off guard and stunned her silent. Suddenly, she has to bring a girlfriend to the gallery's opening in a few weeks—all because she choked up and failed to correct her boss that she is, in fact, straight.

Evan was recently dumped by her fellow teacher fiancee for a mutual coworker and is still trying to figure out where it all went wrong. So when she gets the news the happy new couple will be hosting the staff's holiday party—she feels utterly horrified by her single status and looks for a quick solution.

Together, these two lifelong friends make a plan to get through the gallery opening and holiday party by pretending to date one another. Easy . . . right?

That is until Clara starts developing real feelings for Evan, shocking herself. All the while Evan realizes that perhaps pretending to date your straight best friend, who you've had a crush on for half your life—isn't the best idea.

OMG! This was absolutely wonderful! For a novella, there was a lot happening, but somehow, it all just fit. Nothing felt rushed or forced....the story pace was perfect.

Two best friends from high school decide to help each other out by fake dating for the holidays - at least that was the plan, at first. Then, when things happen, sparks fly (💥🔥❤️‍🔥), and everything falls into place for both of them. This was fun, romantic, heartwarming - all the holiday feels. Clara and Evan are so cute together! This was quite enjoyable 🥰

This novella was absolutely precious. It had the perfect amount of holiday cheer with some very sweet (and a few spicy) moments thrown it. Childhood friends to lovers is such a fun trope and the way these two characters refound each other in adulthood was special. I loved this book!

I loved it all, the best Christmas romance story ever!!! The story, the characters, and the narrators all amazing! Would DEFINITELY recommend! Also it will be a REREAD for sure!!!

What a beautiful story! I laughed, I sighed sadly for young 18 year old Evan and all young LGBTQ+ children that are brave enough to come out to their families only to be thrown out into the uncaring world. Luckily, Evan went to her all time best friend Clara who she and her parents gave Evan shelter till she went to university. These young women were sweet and loving, I’m hoping there will be more books from this author. I also loved the excellent collaboration between Lori Prince and Jen Cher. They were wonderful!

What a great book, the two narrators were amazing. loved the story, and that it was without the normal angst bs. enjoyed the flow of the story.

This is a wonderful rom-com with neurodiverse characters! It's a friends-to-lovers story about lifelong friends, Clara who just started her job as an assistant to her photography idol and a special education teacher, Evan. Both have been harboring a secret love for each other when they plan to fake date for the gallery opening and school holiday party. The story of them opening up to each other is sweet, sexy, fun and humorous. There was no major breakup. It was just a very enjoyable, loving story and I look forward to reading another from this talented author! I also loved the dual POV writing and the narrating from Lori Prince and Jenn Lee!

This is a must read/listen Christmas story! Zero angst, amazing character development, lots of love, cute cat, found sexuality, representation of persons with a disability, and don’t forget the spice! Very well written and it’s going into my listen to again and again folder!

Clara started her dream job in photography with her boss assuming she’s a lesbian. So she and her best friend since childhood, Evan, make a deal to be each other’s girlfriend at the gallery opening and the staff Christmas party hosted by Evan’s ex. A wonderful Christmas Romance and my favorite of the score I’ve read.

The humor and heartwarming romance of this story is phenomenal. I love how these two best friends relate and understand each other. The ending is the. Absolute Best! I had borrowed it from a library and had to have it in my Audible collection- I have reread it over and over again. The two narrators, Lori Prince and Jen Lee are exceptional bringing each romantic and hilarious comment to life. No other combination of narrators could bring all of the significant emotions to the listeners. I truly hope this author writes another Lesbian Love story. She weaves a complex emotional story from two characters perspective in a beautiful manner. I love how she presents ADHD and autism as a part of a loving relationship. She is a spectacular writer. I cannot recommend this book enough.
