About this listen

In the town of Tall Oak, high school football reigns supreme. Led by star Quarterback Justin Jackson, the players walk the halls of their school like gods, but a sinister side lies behind their "Golden Boy" facade. Despite their best efforts, their atrocities will come to life.

Every year, the star players take a retreat to an isolated cabin in the woods for a week of debauchery. This drug-fueled party is intended to be their final send-off before college.

This time, it will be different.

This time, they've pushed their victims too far.

Trapped in an isolated cabin, they will finally know what it means to be the victim.

Revenge at its most gruesome

*4.75 stars*

How far would you go for revenge?

The town of Tall Oak absolutely adores their high school football players. Senior and quarterback Justin Jackson can do no wrong in most peoples' eyes, including the police force. Every year, he takes his star players to a cabin in the woods for a week of drinking, drugs, and other debauchery. This year is especially important, as this is the last get together they'll have before college.

As the story goes on, we find out that they aren't the golden boys that people believe them to be. They're pigs. They're rapists. They don't ask, they take. But they don't take any responsibility for their actions. With their fathers on the police force, and one even being the mayor, the town doesn't hold them responsible, either.

Their trip begins, the team completely carefree as they drink and watch videos of the horrific acts they've committed. But as the night goes on, they discover that they're not alone. And whoever is with them wants them to hurt. Wants them in excruciating pain.

This isn't a whodunit, a shock at the reveal of the rabbits, anything of the sort. It's clear from the beginning who is torturing the football players. But it doesn't take away from the story at all. This is a brutal read. It's so descriptive in the best and worst ways.

As a parent, I could see it from the moment the first rabbit came into view. Would I do the same thing in their position? I'd want to, but I'm not sure I would actually go through with it.

I don't even want to say why I took a quarter star off because it'll give away the ending. Let's just say that one character's story made me extremely heartbroken, especially at the end. It had to end that way, there really wasn't any other option, but man it hurt my heart.

This is a STRONG debut, one that feels like it was written by a seasoned author. I gladly look forward to any future releases!

fast pace, real life horror

Holy canoli! I do not think I've ever finished an audiobook so fast. Typically, I can only squeeze in a few hours at night and have to choose between audio or physical... but this one!? This one I stayed up late for and ignored my morning responsibilities so I could finish.

Seven Rabbits is a fast pace eerie tale that pairs real life horrors and a revenge tale that I'm sure many people will gladly cheer on. It's gut turning. It's raw. Not many fiction stories make me think about the real world. Part of my favorite things about fiction is taking me away from the real world... Seven Rabbits, did not do this. Instead, I thought about my past, my friends, my cousins. It has been awhile since I have read a horror story and went, "woah, real." Seven Rabbits did just that.

At first, I was a bit taken back by the narrator's voice. It sounded different than I expected. A bit young. A bit "up" where many horror narrators tend to go "down." But, TC King quickly became THE voice for this tale and I will be definitely looking up other works.

I absolutely adored the writing style that Timothy King chose. The back and forth chapters jumping between the past and the current timeline of the cabin. I had a very strong idea of where this tale was headed very early on, but knowing where the story was headed didn't take away anything, if anything it made me more excited to get to the "reveal."

Thank you for the chance to review this audiobook. ♡

Justice meets vengeance

This is a great debut from King. The story is real and grounded. For the most part it’s predictable (in the best ways), but still has moments that left me, shocked and surprised. I love The way you end up caring for characters and emotionally invest in them, only to have your heart ripped out..

Horror Fun For All

Revenge & Rabbits go hand in hand, as the author orchestrates.

The story has a perfect flow; it will fly by faster than you can say, “Dead Jocks Equal Happy Socks.”

The narrator is surprisingly also the author. I have seen this not work well in the past, but it works great here.

If you like raw horror, if revenge makes you smile, Then you already know this is your next purchase. Get it done! 5 Stars

a fantastic and bloody debut

Seven Rabbits is a fantastic debut!! Whether it's been in real life, movies, or novels, we have all encountered the "golden boys," the ones somehow above the law, and always beyond persecution. In small town America, this happens all too often. How refreshing it is to read a novel where they get their due!

In the town of Tall Oak, the football team might as well be gods. They get what they want, who they want, and how they want them without repercussions until now. Each year, the star players go to a secluded cabin where they engage in drug and alcohol infused debauchery, this year, they may not leave.

Things got really out of hand in town. Some members of the team have done unspeakable things, and they preyed on the wrong victims. It doesn't take long until the things done in darkness see the light, and when they do, the Predators will become the prey.

I am a sucker for a good revenge story, and this was exactly that. This book gave off both home invasion and slasher vibes. There was a decent amount of gore, but it wasn't too much and not overly gratuitous. I personally loved every second of it. I did listen to the book, and I thought the narrator had a pleasant voice and did a fantastic job.

How far would you go to avenge your daughter?

We loooove a good revenge arc. This was a "binge-in-one-sitting" kinda book for me. I really enjoyed the alternating timelines and felt the characters were pretty well developed. There were a couple of instances where the author inadvertently referred to one character while actually talking about another that slightly pulled me out of the story, but it was easy enough to look past. For a debut novel, I was super impressed and am looking forward to reading more from Timothy King!

Revenge at its finest

I was lucky enough to receive this from the author. The scariest part of this story is how the town glorified the football players. I’m from Florida and around us football is king for high schoolers. Overall, this was a very entertaining book. Already looking forward to what the author writes next!

Absolutely Fantastic!

Wow! This book is fantastic! Is this really Timothy King’s first novel? What a debut!

The action in this book is non-stop. It’s fast paced. It’s emotional. It’s gory. It’s well written. It’s FULL of revenge, and it’s almost impossible to put down.

I listened to the audiobook, and I would have finished it straight through in one sitting, but I paused it for a few hours simply because I didn’t want it to end. It was that good!

This book has left me with a book hangover that I suspect will stick around for a while. If you haven’t read the this one, bump it to the top of your TBR. Like NOW! You won’t regret it!

Love Seven Rabbits

This is one of my all time favorite books! I have read the digital version at least 3 times and the physical book like 3 times and now I have the audio book down! A story I will never get sick of.
The narrations were a little monotone but over all I still love the story!!!

Ok fast paced read

The audio narration was not great. I could tell it was read by the author, so I hate to be negative, but he should’ve hired an audiobook narrator. The reading was wooden and void of any emotion, so it was hard to feel fear/excitement/sadness or even shock at the gruesome deaths. It was all very ho hum.

I did like the structure of the story and how we find out what happened to the victims, and I do feel like the characters were pretty well fleshed out for such a short story. The story itself was engaging and fast paced, but the end was abrupt and left me dissatisfied.

It was nothing groundbreaking, but a good little revenge story with some extreme violence thrown in.
