I absolutely love when Joyce narrates her own books, I tried listening to others that she does not narrate and I just couldn’t listen. This has such a good insight, I will definitely listen to it again and again.

If you don't want it to grow, (bitterness, unforgiveness, self loathing, envy, greed) stop nursing it. This book is about things that steal your joy and how we let it happen. Joyce states clearly some of our bad habits, why we do them, and how they prevent you from enjoying the true happiness Christ came here to give you. Christ said, "I came so that you could enjoy life." And Joyce is saying the same thing. However Joyce explains how allowing these things to fester in us prevents us from having a close personal relationship with God. She backs it up with sound biblical teachings (yes, I read my bible regularly). Then she tells you how you can start to make positive changes in your life that lead to life long happiness in a Christ filled life.

I also suggest Battlefield of the Mind for those who are serious about applying life changing principles that lead to long lasting happiness. Prayer isn't enough. You have to prune your life of bad habits and get connected to God. I have an amazing life now as a result of applying principles I've read in this and her other books. I can honestly say I have reached a level of peace that I've never felt before, and frankly I want more of it in my life. Good luck to you and God bless.

I find that it was read quite fast and I want to listen to it again before I review. Really enjoyed listening though. Good advice!

Joyce delivers again with this book. Her style of communicating is clear and down-to-earth dotted with humor. She quotes scripture ofen to support her teaching and draws from her own life experiences. This is a great book.

Love when she narrates.. She is so funny.. Have the book but never read it due to time issues.. definately worth the money.

Since 2012 I have been on a journey to finding my Whole self in Jesus. Although I have loved Him my whole life and always known Him as my Savior, my journey closer to Him seems to never be done LOL He has of course led me from one help to the next as I progress and grow closer to Him. And I have to say this book (I just finished my first round) has just opened my eyes and my heart and my soul! There’s no other way I can say it, I have been asking God for my next focus in my personal growth and I know that I have struggled with anger through my life and I thought it was just a personality flaw and therefore a struggle I would be dealing with until Jesus comes and takes away my “sin code virus” as I prefer to call it. I honestly never thought that it could be due to childhood sexual abuse that started in my infancy. I have had great success in healing from all the emotional and spiritual and physical ramifications that it affected me with. I healed and have completely forgiven my father and played a strong part in his deathbed deliverance and am convinced he will be with me in heaven (long story!). So I thought that I was completely healed but this book has opened my eyes to the fact that there is still a lot of sticky residue that is holding me back from receiving His full Joy! I am so awed by this new knowledge that my Father in heaven is REALLY DOING THIS FOR ME!!! He is really really going to deliver me completely from the unhealthy and physically devastating dis-ease of anger! I can hardly believe my good fortune!!! I am so relieved to know that this is just a symptom of the distrust, the extreme lack of belief that all of the traumas in my life caused me to have directed toward other people in my life… I trust neither men or women and I have always believed that I just had social anxiety issues and because I am an empath I absorb other peoples energies therefore I don’t wanna be around them because you never know who’s going to have a positive energy but there’s a whole lot more negative going on out there! So I am very happy to keep to myself and have been reclusive my whole adult life! Now I know that this “social anxiety“ and the intolerance I feel toward other peoples lack of common decency can be healed!! I am Spanish and we are very spirited people, I also am blessed with a very passionate personality so my “hotheadedness” was something I feared I was stuck with. I just couldn’t figure out why there were so many things that could and WOULD steal my joy, the sad part I’ve been realizing is that I rarely actually feel joy. And as soon as I feel it something steals it so I have been feeling very frustrated and stuck in misery. Now I know that’s just a lie the sin code part of me believes and NOT ACTUALLY MY REALITY!!! Oh the joy that brings my soul!!! Thank You God, and Joyce Meyer for this gift! I dearly love You both and I’m looking forward to diving in and absorbing and receiving the blessings from it!!! ~ Tamara

The first thing you can do to increase your joy is listen to this book. Joyce has struggled through all the joy-stealers and broken through to joy! It's great to hear someone tell her story in her own words and her own voice. She is real enough to give the rest of us hope. God really does want you to rejoice in Him always and Joyce will help you eradicate the enemy lies that make you miserable. Listen whenever you need a spiritual upper!

It's really sad when a book echoes like someone reading your personal journal and highlighting what you seriously need to work on like yesterday. It hurt my feelings but I learned a lot about my bad habits and now have a beautiful journey ahead of me as I let God do the driving. Of course I'll be listening to this several times.
