Publisher's summary

Zoe and Alf make each other promises before parting for separate colleges. Can they keep those promises?

Zoe is forced into a world she doesn’t understand, and a college far from home and her beloved family. Alf meets Sarah at school, but is forced to honor his promise to Zoe and keeps Sarah at bay, even though he’s attracted to her. Lucas Wright, the perfect gentleman, paves the way for Zoe at college, and while she feels something for Lucas, she holds the space in her heart for Alf.

Will Zoe and Alf end up together? Or will Sarah and Lucas come to mean more to them than either of them can resist?

Perfect Ending

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, via Audiobook Boom, and have voluntarily left this review."
This is a powerful story that shows how wise loving parents who have God as the head of their lives can raise children who are wise and loving. This is as much Alf's story as it is Zoe's and I loved how they grew and found the love they needed without losing each other. The narrator was great and made the story come alive. Loved how he made each personality stand out.

Touch subject, wonderful story

What did you love best about Shadow of Faith?

I listened to this on audio. It was great to listen to this story. Interracial love in a historical western is something you do not read about a lot. I loved the writing about her hair getting done. It made me chuckle. I have had this conversation with a friend who is biracial about hair. I am so glad you touched on that. I loved the story and flow of this book. I am looking forward to reading or listening to the next in the series.

Sweet historical romance.

Zoe and Alf are all grown up in this book. From previous books, I was expecting them to get togther because of how close they were but I understand why they did not end up with each other in this story, it was to be expected.

I would recommend it to those who love sweet historical romance.

Zoe’s Story

Such a touching and emotional story. The perfect final chapter in a fantastic series.

Zoe is all grown up and ready to head off to college, but things may not work out like she had hoped. Segregation is in full force and that impacts where Zoe can go.

Alf has always had feelings for Zoe, but things need to be put on hold, as he and Zoe are not allowed to go to the same college.

Things get complicated when they both make new friends while away from each other. They need to search their feelings and decide what is truly in their hearts.

Christian romance

This is a fine story if you like clean Christian romance. I always enjoy Barbara Goss's books and appreciate being given a chance to listen to and review this book for free.
Although Christian romance isn't my thing, I am still able to appreciate the story and the narrator who made it enjoyable to listen to.

Zoe gets her story!

We first met Zoe as an infant earlier in the series and I was excited to hear how her story would turn out. Now she is grown and ready to go out into the world, except the world she is spreading her wings in is full of prejudice towards people of color. Samson is her biological father who has kept in her life just a little through the years and offers to take her to college and show her the ropes of life outside of Abilene. It was a little strange having Samson be a good guy in this book after his portrayal as a bad guy in the first book, but I guess people can change in 18 years,
While at college Zoe has to determine if she is really in love withAlf, her brother/friend/maybe fiance from back home or if maybe God has a different plan for both of them.
I thought this was the best book by Barbara Goss yet. The plot, characters and their conversations all flowed well together. It is always enjoyable to listen to clean romance with biblical principles.
Leon Nixon did a great job of narration with the pacing, characters and voices. He was easy to listen to and to get into the story.

Sweet historical romance

This is book 7 in the Shadow series and is a great wrap. You do not have to read prior books in the series but it is more enjoyable so that you get the background on the characters. Zoe and Alf are childhood friends. On her 18th birthday, Alf professes his love for Zoe and the pair discuss their future. Alf is heading off to college but, since Zoe is biracial, she cannot attend the same school. Now the only way for Zoe to attend college is to go away with he biological father...whom she did not grow up with. This opportunity allows Zoe to get to know her biological father, as well as learn how to navigate adulthood in a prejudiced world. Meanwhile, Zoe’s heart is set on Alf but then she meets a nice young man at school...who will she choose? Alf misses Zoe but soon makes new friends, including the lovely Sarah. Is there an HEA for Zoe and Alf? The story really draws you in...to the point where you’re rooting for a certain guy...lol. Enjoyable story and series and great narration.
