Publisher's summary

When magic returns to the Earth, its power calls Sam Verner. As Sam searches for his sister through the slick and scary streets of 2050, his quest leads him across the ocean to England, where druids rule the streets...and the throne. But all is not what it seems, and Sam and his new shadow friends are plunged into a maze of madness on the trail of destruction.

Only when Sam accepts his destiny as a shaman can he embrace the power he needs. But what waits for him in the final confrontation of technology and human flesh is a secret much darker than anything he knew lay waiting in the shadows....

Much better than the first

I had a hard time getting into the first book but this one is a lot better. The narrator does a really good job too.

Great Performance, Middling Book

Unlike the crisp and punchy narrative of Book 1, Book 2 has a lot of odd POV changes, time skips, and a fairly convoluted plot that resolves far too conveniently. While Sparks' reading is excellent and the emotion he puts into his characterizations is compelling, I found myself having to go back and listen to sections to catch the sudden jump in time or action. As a Shadowrun fan, I'm invested in the story of Sam, Dodger, Sally, and Ghost, but this story just misses the mark a little. Book 1 was a step above.

More fantasy than cyberpunk

This book was much different than the first. the first one was tied more to the tech of the shadowrun world whereas this one was tied more to the magic. Good pace and action throughout the story. feels like you are playing a video game while reading.

seriously.

it was good, I knew it was gonna be good because I had it in cassette over 20 years ago. what I do not understand is why after I finished the 2nd book in the series is why the third one is not avalible. this is August and the info to purchase the 3rd one says it will not be avaliable until January? WTF! This is a very old series, was recorded for audio years ago. so you are just making us wait for shits and giggles?

great shadowrun book!

a nice continuation of the first book. a lot heavier focus on magic and race (and racism) that manages to location hop a lot but while making sense.

Wow, wendigo

Sam continues his hunt for his sister, Janice taking him to England and Ireland. Loads of rich world building assets a bleak picture of London. a superb conclusion is built towards and a pleasant resolution with a slight cliffhanger for part 3 of the trilogy. A few bits in the middle seem hurried or confusing but some are clarified later. Otherwise a superb story from the shadows.

Decent book

Other than the religious BS, it's a decent book.

Meaningless bs so I can post this review.

Awesome

This is how books should be written and read. There hasn't been a better production in this genre, imo.
