Publisher's summary

An ancient civilization brooding under the ocean depths. A forgotten race of witches, with dwindling supplies of magic. And I’m the spark that will consume them both.

Death followed me to Ireland. First my parents’ accident, then a string of vicious murders. As I start to unravel my mother’s secret past, I’m drawn into the orbit of Sebastian, a mysterious stranger with impossible abilities, and Ethan, the arrogant hottie locals whisper plays with dark magic.

When I start developing powers of my own, I don’t know who I am or where I belong...but if I can’t figure out who is after me or the real reason my mother fled Ireland, more people are going to die. And it won’t stop until the human race is destroyed.

Mermaids are real. And they're going to kill us all.

Not everything in mythology is just a story. Not every fairy tale is harmless. Magic is very, very real...but so are the monsters from your worst nightmares.

Now I'm being chased by immortals, hunted by wizards, and forced to pick sides in a supernatural war I want no part of.

I might be the only one who can stop it. But it will mean giving up the one thing my heart can't bear to lose.

Amazing story

So so so good. I was hoping to be able to read/listen to the next book but I can’t find it anywhere. The best part is it doesn’t leave you on a huge cliffhanger so not being able to listen to the next book isn’t that bad but still kind of stinks. Great story overall!!!!

Interesting

So much happens in this book. I enjoyed the bout the main characters took to find the clues and reveal the past. As more and more s found out, it’s keeps you guessing who the bad guys are. Overall I like the story and the narration. I’m just wondering if that’s the end, or if there is more to come. Can’t wait to see.

loved it!

great story and characters definitely looking for the next one to come out can't wait to see what happens! the narrator was pretty good as well. a little bit of a northern American almost Canadian accent every now and then popped out but other than that the narrator was great specially with the Irish accents! this is a new author for me so I will be checking out his other books as well!

Thoroughly enjoyed!

I loved Shearwater. The writing, the plot, the characters -- all of it.

The narration is excellent. I'm happy this is my library because I will listen again.

Had me hooked from the very beginning.

This was a very fun and entertaining book to listen to. I loved the story and it had me hooked from the very beginning. This was the first book I’ve read by DS Murphy but I will definitely be picking up others.

Sometimes I wonder...

This is one of those books where you wonder, quite honestly if the Author meant for us to actually like the main character. Seriously her monologue, thoughts, words, outbursts, and immaturity is unbelievably unbearable. I did not finish this book. I could not handle the thoughts and actions of this immature, insane main character and I just could not escape her because it is her point of view. There is a point in the book where she is yelling at the male main character to tell her what is going on or she will not be safe. He tells her because she kept yelling at him to do so, and then tells him that he could be killed for telling her, then he gets mad at him for telling her. Instead of feeling bad that she forced him to tell her, she must have forgotten that she yelled and basically said that she will make stupid decisions and make herself unsafe if he didn’t tell her. Ugh. She completely over exaggerated, and got mad that he did not kiss her, when he was explaining that it was forbidden she seriously acted like an 8 year old girl, stormed off and wouldn’t let him explain. Even when he did explain she was not even slightly smart enough to hear him. She goes through her transformation, and thinks “I’m irritated because I’ve not seen MMC, because I want him to see my new look” then when she sees him and he does not immediately fawn over her she says “did he even notice my new looks? Why hasn’t he said anything?” Then when he turns his attention to her and asks if they can talk, she gets irate and says there is nothing for them to talk about!!!! What the??? I mean honestly that is just not enjoyable to read or hear. She was jealous over him, but then continued to think he was a murderer. I mean you can take the chance but I definitely could not get through it, I opted to RE-READ a book I’ve already read, instead of listening to this childish behavior. I understand she is like 15-16 but you kind of have to make it bearable for the reader! I noticed that a man wrote this book. I wonder what he thinks of girls and how they think. It kind of shows in this book. I did return this book.

Narration? Hurt me! Honestly the influxes omg ended the same...exact same over and over at the end of the sentence or ever other word. It was also unbearable. I’m sorry, I can not pretend that I am capable of writing a book or narrating one, but I am a lover of books and of Audible. Unfortunately, everything fell apart for me on this pick. I would not listen to another of the narrators books and never read/listen to this Author again. I do not think the reader was in mind when writing or recording this book. Shrug! That’s just my opinion!
