Publisher's summary

The beginning of a beautiful friendship!

For all we know, or think we know, about Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, what we don’t know is far, far greater. In the duo’s first case, A Study in Scarlet, we learn that Holmes and Watson met on January 1st, 1881, and subsequently moved into an apartment together at 221b Baker Street. Their first case officially began on March 4th of that year, and it is argued that “The Adventure of the Resident Patient” possibly took place in October of 1881, depending on which version of the story you read. But what happened during the rest of 1881? Or all of 1882?

To help fill the void, we have asked today’s top Sherlockian writers to rummage through their Watsonian correspondence and uncover the many mysteries left untold until now. There’s a new story for every month of the year!

great start

I have listened to the first two books in the series, and they are a pleasant range of mysteries. the stories are fairly true to a.c.doyles characters. the reader did a great job. you in essence get one story per month for the year, and a bonus story. I look forward to 1883 and beyond.

Excellent entry in the "Year of Mystery" series

I previously listened to the first book in the series - 1881- and enjoyed the perspectives of the various contributing writers. This volume - 1882 - impresses me with the improvement in story consistency. It is a shame that I can't rate higher than 5 stars because this book is far better than the first, The narrator for this volume, although a different person than the first, is equally talented. I am looking forward to 1883!

Very well done

This was very well done in it’s production and stories. Very much in style of Arthur Conan Doyle himself.

A disappointment

The first in the series (1881) was a great read. So I bought this one (1882). But it’s a disappointment. One or two of the stories are very good but the rest is - to be polite - mediocre. One story devoted a lot of time to explaining the game of cricket and why it is superior to other games. If you haven’t bought the first book, try that one instead.
