Amazing story!

An excellent historical novel, dealing with a stretch of time that it's usually neglected: the final days of Frederick III and the with them, the eclipse of an opportunity for a more liberal government in Germany.

The story felt really authentic, filled with historical accurate details to the point that I got the sense of being just there. German doctors with an agenda, a son who is extremely willing to take his father's place and an English wife who is maybe the symbol of the tension growing in the court.

A very engaging tale that kept me glued to my phone until the end.

Good short story

The Case of the Dying Emperor is Book 1 of the Sherlock Holmes and the Crowned Heads of Europe series by Thomas A. Turley. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson engage on a mission to Germany to report of the medical treatment of Emperor Frederick III’s cancer. In addition to multiple physicians egos and disagreements, there is political intrigue and interference over the correct diagnosis and treatment of the Emperor. It seems like there was some malicious and deliberate malpractice and Holmes is there to sort it out. The narration by Keith Spilsbury is excellent.

Awful

This was an awful rambling book that absolutely made no sense. The only reason you would know it is a Sherlock Holms story is that it actually mentions his and Dr. Watson’s names. no who done it, totally incoherent awful story.
