Publisher's summary

I am afraid that I, Sherlock Holmes, must act as my own chronicler in this singular case, that of the Whitechapel murders of 1888. For the way in which the affair was dropped upon my doorstep left me with little choice as to the contrary. Not 12 months prior, the siren's call of quiet domesticity and married life had robbed me of Watson's assistance as both partner and recorder of my cases. Thus, when detective inspector Lestrade of Scotland Yard required a lead - any lead - I found myself forced to pursue Jack the Ripper alone and without the aid of my faithful friend. And all for the most damnedable of reasons:

Early on in my investigations, Dr. John H. Watson, formerly of 221b Baker Street, emerged as my prime suspect.

Solid story, subpar narration

Story was solid. Better than many other Holmes stories I’ve listened to.

The performance was rough. Very flat even at the most pivotal moments. Character voices weren’t very distinct, which made some scenes a bit confusing.

The performance isn’t so bad that it totally ruins the story but it does detract from the experience. It’s still a reasonably good story though, and worth a listen.

Certainly worth a read

As a Sherlock Holmes fan. I often find these modern versions of Sherlock lacking.

But this one is really high quality, so good I think Arthur Conan Doyle would appreciate it.
Superb narration.

Interesting Holmes Adventure

Parents: drug references, murder, pg 13 description of corpses
Language: none
Violence: PG-13, violent murder
Sexual Content: none

Story has fun twists, interesting investigation and story that tests the bounds of partnership. Well written “who done it” that will keep you reading with its relatively fast pace.

Narrator: ok, differentiations are passable at best. Accent is proper for this genre.

Really enjoyed it

I am not a big Sherlock Homes Or Jack the Ripper buff so if the story is missing Key elements it went unnoticed by me. I thought in the beginning the audio quality was a little rough but overall I really enjoyed the story and feel like the narrator did a awesome job. I would definitely recommend listening to this book.

Loved it

Great narration which for me is half the battle. Fun story, engaging and well worth the time and cost.

Sherlock Holmes & the Ripper of Whitechapel

Not my favorite, but enjoyable nonetheless. There wasn’t nearly as much use of Holmes’ deductive methods as I would have liked, but I understand that that is very difficult to write, especially from the first person perspective that was used in this book.
I did really enjoy the ending, particularly how it references back to a very specific moment in the canon. It can be tough to end well when fictionalizing real events, especially material so sensitive, but it felt both solid and respectful.

Lousy interpretation of Sherlock Holmes

Wrote a review a couple of months ago but for some reason, a lot of my Audible reviews disappeared.

Not the Holmes I remember. And the way Watson was portrayed is downright criminal. Glad I didn't waste money on it.

Received an ARC of this Audible to review for Free Code. This is an honest and voluntary review.
