About this listen
She's gonna get them all killed.
So they locked her away.
Laylea has been hiding her entire life. She's never been to school. She's never had a friend her own age. She's never known anyone else like her.
All that is about to change.
In a world hidden from humans and wyrdos alike, shifters are still recovering from a vicious plot to destroy them all. They have two laws they live by now:
1) Hide.
2) Protect the children at all costs.
Laylea has just broken rule number one. But she's only 14. So, they're sending her to school. Where she's going to learn....
Any place can be a prison.
The Lincoln Park Shifter School: not your grandma's uber-secret, underground academy.

Shifter School Truth
This book may have been a little long but I really appreciated learning more of the background of the shifters. The story is well written and narrated by the author Gwendolyn Druyor. The characters are quirky and fun and a bit realistic. I loved the storyline and the hints of sarcastic retorts between the characters. I highly recommend this book. This is my honest unbiased review.

Solid start to a YA Fantasy series
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This was a fun urban fantasy story that was definitely geared towards a younger audience but still enjoyable for any fan of the genre. I was pleasantly surprised to find the narration pretty good. I have had VERY mixed experiences with authors who narrate their own books, but she did a decent job. Granted, some of the better narrators, like Tess Irondale, would only enhance the experience, but she still made it an engaging listen. All in all, I would say this is worth a credit.

Young or old you will enjoy this, well I did.
I got this audio book because I really like Gwendolyn style of writing then I saw it was meant to be for young adults (and being 40 not sure I count) but gave it a go anyway.....so glad I did, I really enjoyed the story and the performance was brilliant.
Things aren't normal in Laylea word not but a long shot but when you are friends with vampires and the boogy man what do you expect, but things take a turn for the worse when you can't control you powers and change in front of humans. So there is only one option go to school but not just any old school will do. Soon Laylea finds herself surrounded by other shifters (so many different animals represented at the school it was fun getting to know them and what they can do) but has she jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire because going to school could just kill her.
It also included a free sample for another book in this series which sounded interesting giving a back ground in to Laylea's home life and family , so I am off to add to my audio book collection.

Excellent Teen/YA Fantasy!
I’m glad I gave this book a try! I enjoy Gwendolyn writing style and the story is fun and unique. This is one of my favorite genres and this tale does not disappoint.
Narration was well done and brought the story to life.
The story was quite unique with Laylea being a shifter and actually being more comfortable in her animal form. She has no control over her changes and that gets her into trouble. She ends up going to a shifter school that is not all that is cracked up to be.
It was a very unique book with so many different shifter animals. I enjoyed learning about all of them.
I’m looking forward to listening to more books written by this talented author. I enjoyed the free book sample included at the end of this audiobook.

Good Concept
Any additional comments?
I wasn’t paying attention when I was getting this book as I didn’t notice that the author is also the narrator — how neat is that? It’s not very often when a fiction author narrates their own book! I actually thought I’d misheard it and ended up rewinding to confirm it as I started the book.
The description of the book caught my attention, but I found the opening setup and background a bit long. I found it a bit difficult with keeping me interested, but knowing a bit about what was coming based on the publisher’s description helped.
Pretty neat concept and the author is clearly a big dog lover, which made for a good story.

Shifter School
“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”
I found the book to be entertaining I would love to read the next one.
Laylea has broken a very important rule...she changed in front of a human. For this she is sent to school. Laylea has never been to school, has never had a friend & has trouble controlling her shifting. What will school teach her? Will she learn to control her shifting? Will she make friends?
The narrator was really good at making the characters come to life.
Look forward to the next one.
