About this listen

Shingles Audio Collection, Volume 4 begins with "Carnival of Psychos". In this story, Richie Spoonerman finds himself being chased by a psychotic clown in the Maze of Mirrors at the carnival.

In "That Time of the Month", Molly Stein's life was hard enough before she started noticing some weird changes. For one, a suspicious number of people seem to be exploding around her.

In "The Sober Slayers", Katie McCallister wants to slay dragons, save the kingdom, and become a hero, but all she finds around the gaming table are jerks. But then she and her friends discover a magic book, one that transports them into the game itself.

The collection continues with "I Know What You Dicked Last Summer". As everyone knows, when a bunch of attractive teens meet up at a secluded cabin, there's only ever one winner. And that winner is violent death.

"Just Say Gnome" asks, how many problems in your life would be solved by a garden gnome that eats people and shits cocaine?

And finally, in "Jingle My Balls", Jeff just wanted to get a 12-pack and drink away the night before Christmas Eve. But something went awry, and he came home to find a horny elf twerking in his living room.

Contains mature themes.

Entertaining brain rot

Another anthology of short stories full of dark humor, vulgarity, and searing satire of the conservative south. If you have political sensitivities, this will likely trigger them heavily. These stories vary somewhere between laugh out loud funny, and excessive vulgarity to the point of eyeroll.

Well, at least it was free

The story ideas were ok, but there was WAY too much foul language for my liking.

Evidence-B-Gone Floor Cleaner

Does evolution lead toward improvement? To the betterment of humanity? Is today’s literature standing on the shoulders of previous generations?….🤫
……
Nah 🥱

When I was younger, grooming was good…how can it now be bad?

Good but not great

Volumes 3 and 4 are not as good as 1 and 2. Also, no Drew Hayes?!

Great narration throughout. Stories are hit and miss. And did I mention: No. Drew. Hayes!

1) Carnival of Psychos. Hartness. 3.5 stars. Basically a foul mouthed scooby doo. Ok-at-best story with moments of really fun wordplay.

2) That time of the month. Bevan. 5 stars. Exactly the wonderfully inappropriate madness I've come to expect from Bevan. He (and usually Hayes) is a consistent highlight in the Singles series.

3) The sober slayers. Gualtieri. 4 stars. Pretty good, esp for this author, but having listened to all of the C&C and NPCs series, most of which are sure to be common to Shingles fans, this feels like a 2nd tier attempt

4) I know what you dicked last summer : Wetherell. 3.5 stars if you can get through the first few chapters. It took me 2 tries to get past them. They aimed for “so stupid it’s funny” but only achieved the first part. If you can tough it out long enough to get to the murders, it gets much better

5) Just say gnome: Bevan. 5 stars. Bevan is back and killing it. Another wildly uncomfortable highlight

6) Jingle my balls. Hartness. 4 stars. This had 5 star potential but the long passages of math were mood killers. Otherwise a very funny story

An enjoyable anthology

A good collection of books by talented authors. Two of the stories are by the same author, and a greater degree of diversity would really help keep interest in the series long-term. Overall, the stories are fun and the narrators really do an amazing job polishing that work.

It’s out

These writers....no...,
These literary gods are back...they’ve never left us. The pylons of authors and dragons do not disappoint.

Brace yourself

Shingles is where your favorite writers go to vent or dump out all their pent up racial and sexual diatribe! It is a disgusting and disturbing deep dive into things so foul. These are only horror stories because they are completely cringe worthy. The faint of heart should steer clear. I do not know if this is supposed to be funny, but it's just so disturbing.* guess I just wish I hadn't discovered the dark depths of some of my favorite writers minds. This won't keep me from my favorite monster writers, but fair warning, this is some dark $h1t!!! Someone is going to find these stories funny...THAT I's the real horror!

well that was....

as I started the first chapter I thought 'bugger, its aimed at the YA crowd'

the second story proved me so very very wrong and the final story of a twerking 'elf on a shelf' on a quest to get laid in an Alabama wh0rehouse will haunt my Christmases!!!

if you have a warped sense of humour I really recomend this book.
