I don’t understand Americans. Or, as we say in Scotland, I dinna understand ye eedjits.
And I definitely dinna understand the crazy mother-in-law of my cousin Declan. Who in their right mind names a wee dog Chuffy?
I’m stuck in New York after ma agent makes a bloody mess of an otherwise good endorsement contract for a sports towel company, and this crazy American holiday - Thanksgiving - is in two days.
The invitation to spend it in Mendon, Massachusetts with the Jacoby family is about as appealing as rotten haggis. As far as I can tell, Thanksgiving is about stuffing yerself silly, watching pathetic American “football”, while fighting with relatives ye only see once a year.
If I wanted that last one, I’d head back to Scotland, where we dinna need a holiday to be salty to each other.
Ma firm answer is nae.
Until I remember Amy is part of the family.
Suddenly, I’m available.
Eager, even. Perhaps she’ll pull ma wishbone. I hear that’s part of the Turkey Day festivities, aye?
What I canna admit, though, is how she pulls ma heartstrings, too.
Which shouldna feel better than the wishbone, but it does.
And here comes Amy's mother with another holiday tradition, this one a bit early.
A sprig o’ mistletoe, dangling right above Amy’s bonnie head.
Shopping for a Turkey features Scottish football player Hamish McCormick and Amy Jacoby as they navigate unusual cultural norms, new traditions, and the undeniable attraction between these two characters, who have appeared as supporting players in Julia Kent's New York Times best-selling Shopping series. It's their turn to have their own all-new spin-off series. And to pull the wishbone. ;)

Shopping for a Turkey is the most outrageous Thanksgiving-gone-arwy comedy I've ever written. From page one to the very end, this book is filled with wild and hysterical antics that we've come to expect from the whole clan, especially Carol and Jason as the elder Jacobys. Hamish and Amy are off to an amazing start.
The audio, narrated by Emma Wilder and Shane East, is my favorite audio in this world so far. Emma Wilder's comedic timing and delivery is the best in the business. She's one of my absolute favorite narrators, and I could listen to her all day every day. Shane East is also great as Hamish, the larger-than-life Scotsman with a boisterous spirit. Both Emma and Shane do an amazing job, too, with voice differentiation and accents among the extended Jacoby/McCormick family, and they make this such a fun listen from the first word.
On a side note, those Jacoby sisters and McCormick men has quite the relatives to contend with. There is a ton of love on the Jacoby side, but wow are Jason and Carol a handful. And James McCormick sure comes with a lot of baggage.
All in all, a hysterical riot that leaves you so damn happy and gives you a stomachache from all the laughs.
Hysterical!

Hamish and Amy, Hamie and Amy are a continuation full of antics of the dog, the cat, Amy's mother, the ridiculous and amusing antics which include a riotous sex life of Amy's parents.
great continuation of the billionaire series

Hamish and Amy had gotten paired together in the past for a wedding. She calls him thinking he's her sister. This was hilarious and I loved how Amy just kept on denying out loud how she wasn't at all interested in Hamish, even though she looks at him all lustily. I also loved every time he called her out on said lusty staring.
Emma Wilder and Shane East were so good in this book. Both do an excellent Scottish accent. Which I'm sure isn't easy.
Such a fun story!!

I was supposed to be in the US this year for my first Thanksgiving but sadly fate had other plans for me. I lived attending a Thanksgiving dinner vicariously through reading this book. This is Hamish McCormick and Amy Jacoby’s story and was a fantastic addition to the series. We have met both of these characters in previous books and I couldn’t wait for them to get their own story.
This book was pure chaos, but in a good way. The family and shenanigans were as outrageous as always and made for a fun read. It was so much fun to see all the familiar faces that we have come to know and love in this story. There were also some swoon worthy moments and I felt that Hamish and Amy were well suited to one another.
Shopping For A Turkey was a brilliant addition to one of my favourite romantic comedy series ever.

Charming characters and stellar narration, funny situations and a solid plot are the positives. Be prepared to buy the rest of the books if you want to read the whole story.
