About this listen

Roger's a mild-mannered family man who inadvertently stole the most important magic in the elves' arsenal. Talora's a pyromancer who literally burns through her memories. Individually, neither's more than a minor annoyance to the shadowy powers-that-be. Together, however, the Witch knows they can change the world—assuming they survive her complicated scheme to unite them against her enemies.

Character development and narrator

I really enjoy this author and the narrator! Scott is amazing at character development. I love knowing so much about them. My only hiccup is it’s his narrator that keeps me engaged until he brings it all together.

Well done. Can’t wait for the next one!

The Power Behind the Throne

Book 1 gave you a hint of the politics and drama going on in Evitankari, but Shotgun really takes you there! The elves are as messed up as we humans are! Maybe worse. It's a deep dive into the corrupt world of elves and demons and witches for Roger, and a real struggle to figure out who his real friends are! As with A Date With Death, the narrator brings out all the characters with distinct voices and spot-on delivery of all that punchy humor. Moving on to Book 3!

IMHO better than the first

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the elf world Eventencari (I'm guessing spelling). Totally different story line than book one, but author does a great job introducing and developing them. I was completely surprised with the plot twist as well. Great book!

When scheming blows up in your own face

Second book in the series takes us on a journey of discovery, when a mere human becomes a new elven wielder of the strongest magic they ever created, from one side by design, from the other, by mistake. Roger is thrown into the world of elves, witches, pixies and demons, which he had no idea even existed. During his "accidental" wielder appointment, he lost everything. His house, his previous life as he had known it. His wife and children missing. And as if that was not enough, more schemes and lies all around him are making his life, despite his best efforts do make everything right, very difficult. And there is more to come.... * I'm loving the series so far, will be diving in the next one right away. * Narration great as always * Highly recommended if magic and mystical creatures are your guilty pleasure as well *

Urban paranormal fantasy

Scott Cobly wrote a humorous urban fantasy novel. Jason L. Bishop did an amazing job on the narration. He makes the story come to life. It’s entertaining, interesting, engaging, and I love it. I find each story funny. Shot gun lets you see more into the supernatural world that most of the paranormal creatures live in and its political factions. I like how the characters develop in the story.
