Publisher's summary

Daniel Van Doren was once a renowned writer, until he was blinded in the car accident that killed his lover. Now, all he sees are ghosts in need of help. They follow him everywhere, and the only way to be rid of his ethereal visitors is to help them resolve their unfinished business here on earth, so their spirits can find peace.

Ghostwriter Logan Riley is assigned to pen Daniel's biography. He plans to reveal him as a fraud, but when they meet he's struck by Danny's quiet sincerity - and a growing attraction. Which makes sticking close to Danny to find out the truth more than a little distracting.

When they are attacked by a violent poltergeist, Logan begins to believe Danny's not just telling the truth, he's in grave danger. A spirit has learned how to harness the energy of the living to break through the barrier between worlds in order to harm Danny. And Logan may be the one to blame.

Decent Thriller with a Paranormal Twist

This was a well written full novel with an interesting (if not necessarily original) plot and characters that are likeable. Unlike many M/M pairings, neither pair is particularly promiscuous and their growing relationship isn't based on sex (though there is plenty of well written romance here).

The story follows Danny - a writer who lost his sight in a car accident that also claimed the life of his lover. After the wreck, he gained the curse of being able to see ghosts (usually one at a time). Meanwhile, Logan, another writer looking to do an expose on charlatans, offers to be a ghostwriter on Danny's biography (though he doesn't believe Danny is a real psychic). Once they meet, Danny sees that Logan has a ghost following him with serious malic on her mind - and the closer the boys get, the more powerful this lost soul becomes.

The book is a pleasant and undemanding read with a great length to develop characters and provide plenty of action and reveals. As such, highly recommended.

Two firsts

I'd never read anything by Hunter Raines or heard anything narrated by Malachi Mars. Both get five stars from me. Danny and Logan were both lovable, though I had a few moments of being angry at Logan's slow belief and acceptance of Danny's gift. Overall a very good book that I will probably listen to again.

A good listen -hot sex and some ghosts

This was my first ghost gay listen and I was able to enjoy most of it.
the narrator was okay, while the sex scenes were better.
I felt some of the ghost storyline was a bit over the top but overall
I had no regrets - It was worth the credit!

paranormal, strong differently-abled characters.

I always like paranormal stories but I especially like it when one of the love interest has a disability thank you for writing a strong independent character with a disability.

My first ghost book wow amazing

Wow what an amazing book, my first ghost book ever and I’m all in love with it. From the main characters to the ghosts itself it’s book was amazing to listen. Most importantly the wild and vivid imagination I explored of these ghosts.

So cool Phoenix, AZ.

It's great to read a story about my home. I was able to actually picture the streets scene because I driven down them all the time. I loved the concept of the whole book with intrigue, action and some suspense. Stayed up all night listening.

Easy Fun Listen - Modern Paranormal Romance

Who was the most memorable character of Sight Unseen and why?

The main character. He's blind, so his attraction is based on smell & touch instead of the usual visuals. This is what makes the book more unique & interesting than most. I don't know any blind people well, but it seemed believable as to how someone blind might experience & go through life. He was courageous in overcoming a debilitating handicap & finding a new purpose in life that helps other people. Someone to be admired.

Any additional comments?

It's a Paranormal Urban Fantasy story - set in modern times, with the Paranormal aspect being ghosts & the main character's ability to see them after a near death experience (which also took his eyesight). He has a relative who's a homicide detective & helps him solve murder/missing victim cases via his contact with the dead. This has been done but not overdone like vampires & werewolves & zombies, so it provides a nice change. Like many in this genre it isn't too hard to guess what happens next or how it's going to play out, but I don't listen to this type of book to exercise my brain, I listen when I want an easy read - to enjoy a fun mild urban thriller. No guns, no gore, nor foul language or gratuitous sex (& I still liked it!).It's a traditional 'Paranormal Romance' formula, but nicely done. Couple hooks up under false pretenses, fall in love, deceit is discovered, overcome adversity/almost get killed, survive, solve problems, live happily ever after - standard plot devices. I read another book by this same author (w/a hetero couple) & enjoyed it, so when I saw this on sale I decided to give it a try & was glad I did. It was much better than expected. Other issues were touched on, like role reversal - female stalker & antagonist instead of male & coming to terms with & accepting your sexual orientation (coming out of the closet) & learning to adapt to living with a handicap & making a new life. Overcoming losing a partner, dealing with grief & guilt & learning to love again. More character development &/or done better than the usual run of the mill. Main characters are gay but sexual orientation is absolutely not the focus of story. It just happens to be (as it should be unless it's meant as erotica - which it isn't). Does have the usual mooning over their intended partner's physical attributes (which are glorious of course!) & fantasizing what they'd like to be doing with them & finally a few sex scenes which are detailed but pretty tastefully/lovingly done & short (2 oral, 1 anal, if I remember correctly, for the entire book & not until at least the last 1/3rd). Again, pretty traditional & romantically done. They were about expressing love for & with another person physically, not about the sex or gender. I got it on sale for about $5 & felt it was worth the money. I like the author & will probably check out other works by them when I'm in the mood for a light read.

It was okay.

Any additional comments?

Original story line. Only problem I really had was with the narration. No inflection. They did fall in love a bit to quick for me But overall it was okay.

sexy and suspenseful

The author did a good job writing in tge different pov of each character including the ghost that haunted them. this choice of insight at first confused me but I enjoyed it and soon realized it have the book depth it otherwise would have lacked. The chemistry between the men are electric without with book becoming tacky allowing sexual tension to build till it nearly explodes from the characters. The issues of the blind man seemed real and researched and his hard core no non-sense lover had issues that fit him, has he blamed his father though in truth it was himself and his ex that was the real issue in his ability to believe. In short I loved this book and can't wait till Hunter Raines writes another one.

Good ghost story

I didn't really read the blurb about this book before I listened to it. I guessed that one of the MCs would be blind. The well done ghost story was a nice touch. Some of the situations were a bit absurd, but I can forgive that for a story that kept me interested throughout.
