About this listen

The axis of global power has shifted.

Is it too late to restore the balance?

Biding its time for decades, China has patiently lain in wait for its chance at global dominance. Long content to needle the West while secretly amassing intelligence, technology, and resources, the war chest is now full, and the gears of the colossus are grinding into motion.

New arenas of modern battle emerge as China wages an all-out cyber assault on the West. And the more familiar tactics of brute strength play out in its bold attacks against sovereign neighbors. The scope of the Chinese menace draws the US into the melee.

But then US Naval Intelligence learns the true reasons for, and the vulnerabilities of, the Middle Kingdom’s aggression.

Will the men, women, and submarines of America's Silent Service be able to hang on to a tenuous world order...or have the scales already tipped too far?

Former US Navy submarine commander George Wallace and award-winning author Don Keith are the authors of the novel Hunter Killer, now a major motion picture starring Gerard Butler and Gary Oldman.

Silent Running is the seventh book in the Hunter Killer series.

Awesome addition to an addicting series!

I believe I’m quickly becoming addicted to not just reading the Wallace & Keith Hunter Killer series, but to listening to each of the books as well. I received a review copy of the audiobook from the publisher and am pleased to report the listening experience was awesome. Sure, I know what was coming but that didn’t dull the story in the least in fact, knowing where the story was going as well as each of the characters only made the listening experience better. Kind of like hanging out with old friends and telling “sea-stories.” Corey M. Snow’s narration took the story to the next level – I’m firmly convinced he is the only person who should narrate this series. I’m including my original review from the e-book below as it is more story related.

After reading Silent Running the seventh book in the Hunter Killer series I can say unequivocally that I’m addicted to the series. However, unlike any other addiction, I’ll patiently wait for my next Wallace and Keith fix, so please write faster guys.

Once again, these authors have crafted a story that at times feels like it was pulled right from the news headlines and at other times feels like a portent of the future – either one is frightening to say the least. The action and intrigue in this story never let up, and the technology is not just believable, I’m quite certain after a bit of research most of it currently exists. I don’t just know the characters in these stories, they have begun to feel like shipmates I’ve served with for a full career. If you enjoy military thrillers and are new to Wallace and Keith’s work, you really need to start at the beginning of this series so that you can really get to know the characters and the situation they encounter. If you are already a fan, this is a must-read installment. I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and chose to provide my review.
