About this listen

Sir Dalton, a knight in training, seems to have everything going for him. Young, well-liked, and a natural leader, he has earned the respect and admiration of his fellow knights, as well as the beautiful Lady Brynn. But something is amiss at the training camp. Their new trainer is popular but lacks the passion to inspire them to true service to the King and the Prince. On top of this, the knights are too busy enjoying themselves to be concerned with a disturbing report that many of their fellow knights have mysteriously vanished. When Sir Dalton is sent on a mission, he is captured by Lord Drox, a massive Shadow Warrior.

Bruised and beaten, Dalton initiates a daring escape, but what will become of the hundreds of knights he'll leave behind? In a kingdom of peril, Dalton thinks he is on his own, but two faithful friends have not abandoned him, nor has a strange old hermit who seems to know much about the Prince. Can Dalton face the evil Shadow Warrior again and survive?

entertaining and contemplative

I enjoyed this story for it's engaging action and adventure but found myself thinking of verses that matched what was going on. A very fun and engaging audio book.

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING!

The knights of arrethrae is my favorite series out of the other books I have (And that's something).
When I first got this, I thought that it couldn't possibly be any better then the makes of C.S. Lewis, or J.R.R. Tolkien.
I. Was. Wrong.
I've listened, (and re-listened) to the series multiple times.
this book is an absolute must have for fantasy lovers. it portrays the new testament in an amazing way.
I'm so glad that Chuck black put his time and effort into this. The narrators did an amazing job as well. 😁
NOTE TO PARENTS: this series may be a little scary for some sensitive kids. the war scenes are a bit violent. Some parents may want to listen beforehand.
if you're like me, a lover of fantasy and Christian novels, then this book is perfect.
P.S. I think you're supposed to listen to the kingdom series first...

God bless you! :)

Absolutely Incredible!!!

I love this whole series like no other. Nothing captures my attention than medieval or fantasy allegories! Chuck Black brings these characters to life like always. Audio books are definitely my thing, and the narrator and character voices are better than ever. I recommend this book and the whole series to anyone of all ages!

"Being relevant" Makes You Powerless Against Evil

There is a popular teaching in the Christian Church today that says it should change to "be relevant" by changing the gospel of Jesus to not challenge disciples of Jesus to live holy and pursue Jesus above all else. The Bible is not the unadulterated Word of God and is not the final authority in all matters.

"Sir Dalton and the Shadow Heart" addresses this teaching and shows how it makes the Knights of the Prince powerless against the Shadow Warriors. Sir Dalton has been taught philosophy instead of the sword. When he is easily defeated by Shadow Warrior Lord Drox, he must come to get grips with his own lack of devotion to the Prince. Will he escape from Lord Drox's prison or is Lord Drox correct and Dalton is nothing but a foolish knave who will never amount to anything?
