Publisher's summary
MISS MICHELLE ELLINGTON despises the founder of a competing school for young ladies. Already, he has lured away two teachers and seems intent on wreaking havoc upon her school, all while the headmistress is away. She’s never met the man, but the few missives they’ve exchanged have told her exactly the sort of person he is—an underhanded cad.
Sir Miles Wentworth made a promise to his dying father and is driven to succeed. He'd be well on his way if only he could entice the reputable Miss Ellington to leave her current position and work for him. Unfortunately, her frigid reply makes it clear that his school would be the last place she’d ever seek employment.
When the pair encounter each other as strangers one evening, they form an instant connection. Smitten by the mysterious woman, Sir Miles sets out to romance her. What he soon discovers, however, is that the woman he is falling more in love with every day is the same woman who would like to make mincemeat of him.

Story
Hidden away in rural Devonshire, Phyllida Satterthwaite has always been considered more odd than beautiful. But in London, her oddity has made her a sensation. To escape the duke’s clutches, she’s going to need a little help. Captain Arthur Heywood’s days of heroism are long past. Grievously injured in the Peninsular War, he can no longer walk unaided, let alone shoot a pistol. What use can he possibly be to a damsel in distress?

Story
In the eyes of London Society, Gillian Phelps is suitable enough. Though the ton whispers about her change of residence, any speculation remains just that: ballroom gossip. No one—not even the other Huntresses, the group of ladies she calls her dearest friends—knows that she is harboring a devastating family secret. Gillian has become adept at hiding the reality of her circumstances, but the close quarters of a house party will test her ability to conceal the crushing truth. And with so many people to deceive, the late arrival of another guest is a most unwelcome surprise.

Lord Farnsworth would rather rot in debtor’s prison than sell the one place that feels like home to him—his mother’s manor. That is, until he meets the woman who wants to buy it. Sally Duncan is beautiful, intelligent, and as rich as a baron—a rich baron, not a cash-strapped one like Lord Farnsworth. She’s the solution to every one of his financial problems and is bewitching to boot. All he needs to do is sell her his beloved manor and then charm her to the altar, and the manor will be his again. Simple, right?

Inspired by Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, Miss Sarah Meacham has always behaved circumspectly, until an emotional outburst directed at a well-deserved gentleman earns her the nickname of Miss Shrew. As a result, she vows to never trust - or love - again. It’s been nearly a decade since Sophia has seen Hugh Quinton. He’s grown into a handsome, charming, and successful — yet completely unacceptable — tradesman. Her mother looks down on him, her father detests him, and society would snub him in an instant. Sophia shouldn’t even consider him.

Witty & Charming
I enjoyed this story (as well as the first one, “Five Kisses”) quite a bit. There is a lot of witty banter between Chelle and Miles and their relationship is downright adorable. I found myself chuckling many times throughout. I thought the building tension of the situation was played out well and resolved in a satisfying way. However, as with the first book, the ending — particularly the epilogue — was lackluster and disappointing. I like to learn about the future of the relationship I just invested so much of my time into. When the epilogue for “Five Kisses” disappointed, I shrugged it off because there was another book. But this one included little of Sarah and Ian….which would be fine IF their epilogue had satisfied. A third book is coming later in the year but I have little hope it will be any different.
Anyhow, that’s a small personal gripe. I still enjoyed the book a great deal and would highly recommend it.

Very enjoyable
I loved this story! If just stumbling upon it I would listen to the book five kisses first; although this book can stand on its own some of the characters are first introduced in that story. Both of the books are funny and very enjoyable to listen to. I have listened to so many regency type romance books as they are one of my favorite genres and I would listen to this again.
