About this listen

April Frost is a compassionate young woman with a steady job and ambitious goals. But the harder she runs away from her past, the more it threatens to destroy her. When three strangers enter her life, April is forced to face her demons, and it's a battle she may not win. Private investigators in the Breed world are men who take risks, and Reno Cole is no exception. As a Shifter, he's expected to control his inner animal. But lately his wolf has been venturing dangerously close to the city, and he's about to discover why. When Reno is reintroduced to a family friend, the attraction is immediate. April captivates him with her secretive eyes and resilient spirit. She's also in trouble, and despite the fact that she's a human, Reno can't turn his back on her. April is caught between two worlds: One that threatens to bury her dreams and another that could fulfill them. Can she trust the wolf at her door and find the courage to overcome her demons?

Critic reviews

"A fractured and reluctant heroine, plus a reticent alpha hero equals an awesome story of choice, retribution and love. Six Months has it all!" (Tamara Rose Blodgett, author of Blood Reign)

6 Months of ups and downs

I enjoyed catching up with the characters from the first book and watching their progress. Denver was my favorite character in book 1 and 2. I loved his playfulness, but yet protectiveness over Macy. He could always detect when something was off with her and he loved her like the brother she never had.

Reno was in-love with April but he could not get her to let him in. She fell in love with his Wolfe but could not love him and it was not because of who he was, but it was because of all the people she owed money, thanks to her grandma and her non-existent mother. Reno had his eye set on her since the first time he saw her but she kept pushing him away every time he got too close or did something nice for her.

This book was all about April and all the trouble she was in. What upset me about her character was how she couldn't trust anyone with anything, not her gay best friend, her sister, or even her boyfriend. She was jilted from her past experiences and could not let go of the fact that not everyone was the same. She even stole from her friend/boss because she couldn't ask for help. She got more people in trouble in the end because she could not confide in anyone to help her.

This one was not as great for me as the first one (seven years) was but it was still a good read. I don't know if it was the voice of April or the romance wasn't as strong as the first one was. The voice rubbed me the wrong way. It sounded like an 12 year old girl. Even the little kid's voice was more mature than the female lead.

Great Book. Weakest one in series but worth it.

April is just too whiney. Not enough between Reno and April to fill in the time between April's catastrophes. Not enough info about Reno. I love this series and this author. Don't judge the rest on this book. It is worth reading, just not the best, by far.

One can take passive aggressive to a point.

I consistently thought of Mia Farrow. It was a good story, but geez, the April character .. a bit too passive aggresive.

Very Frustrating Main Character

What did you like best about Six Months? What did you like least?

I liked Reno Cole but he was too good for this ridiculous little girl.
The main character was ridiculous, frustrating and strangle-able.

Has Six Months turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I will try one more and see if the main characters have more insight, class and common sense. I loved the first book.

Which character – as performed by Nicole Poole – was your favorite?

Reno Cole even though he should not have put up with the little girl's lack of insight. Also, why would a man of hundreds of years of wisdom put up with a whiny little child?.

Do you think Six Months needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Not with the main character.

Any additional comments?

I was very upset when the story jumped from the abandoned warehouse to the bed. What happened in between? I almost quit listening. Also, the gay friend was an unbelievable character and if he were truly a friend why didn't April trust him at all?

My love of a Good Wolf

This series is a true story of everyday life shifter style. I love the love Reno has in him; that he’s not afraid to show and share that love!

Meh, kinda depressing

this story was very depressing and the heroine was a simple minded sap. not very likeable and irritating. the hero was pretty hot but I didn't see him with her.

Worst heroine ever

I loved the first book in the series, and I enjoyed learning more about Reno and the Pack. Unfortunately, I despised April's character, and for once I was actually disappointed (spoiler alert--sort of) they worked it out in the end. Reno was much too good for April. I can't think of one redeeming quality she possessed. I hope she doesn't continue to play a big role in the rest of the series. What a twit.

Decent read. Narrator yelps are hideous!

First book was really good. Second book was ok, but I’m glad I read it. I enjoy the Characters Dannika Dark has created.
The Narrator’s voice when she yells, cries out, or screams is like nails on a chalkboard.

Another fun book to read in the Seven series

I wish that April ended up being a wolf, that would of tied the story together even better.
