Publisher's summary

Stevie is a kiler. But she brings her victims back to life again, to demand, "What Do You See?" Now she's about to find out for herself. After an accident in which her mother dies, Stevie has a near-death experience, and finds herself in a room full of people - everyone she's ever annoyed.

They clutch at her, scratch and tear at her. But she finds herself drawn back to this place, again and again, determined to unlock its secrets. Which means she has to die, again and again. And Stevie starts to wonder whether other people see the same room...when they die.

Breathe of fresh air!

A strong, female protagonist set in a dark and unexpected “world”. I have listened to a couple of Kaaron Warren books and I have enjoyed the hell out of them! The writer is a superb craftsman/ craft person with a fantastic narrative style and prose seldom seen in novels in the genres in which she writes.

Disjointed Tale of a Despicable Human

I'll first give credit where it's due and say the narrator delivered this well.

Unfortunately, the story itself hops around bafflingly between different times in the character's life. Only a few times does it stay in one place long enough to establish even a shadow of coherence.

The other main drawback is the main character herself. Every aspect of her is unlikable, but not even interestingly enough that you find yourself wanting to follow along to discover what happens next. You just want something awful to happen to her so she can stop crapping on everything around her and the book can be over.
