Christian Historical Romance

Wow! Solomon sure had to live through some very difficult times, and that was when no one knew of his heritage! But God always makes beauty from ashes for His people! Miriam is an amazing woman who truly follows Christ, but even she suffered through great loss! It is a very well written story, and although the narration could use some minor tweaking, I enjoyed it very much!

A great story

I enjoyed listening to this story. Adam Skousen is becoming a narrator that I enjoy listening to. I like this because it is about a subject that many people had to face. Along his journey, Solomon realized that he was deposited in the place he wanted to be.

Sweet and Clean

Solomon's secret about his heritage weighs heavily on him. His promise to his father to go west and keep that secret weighs even heavier on his heart. So he keeps the promise. But things don't turn out like he had hoped. God had a plan for Solomon and part of that plan was to bring more commitment to his Christian faith and to meet a very special woman.

The narration was good and I enjoyed listening. A pleasant voice to listen to and brought each character to life.

Keeping the Faith

Listening to Solomon’s Secret was very enjoyable. The narrator was great. Solomon goes west to fulfill his father‘s death bed request, but has to hide the fact that they were Jewish. He finds a town to stop in and does find a job in a jewelry store. While working, the store is robbed, and Solomon was taken hostage. He escaped and started to walk to the next town. Here he finds a pastor to help him, and is introduced to Miriam. She becomes a big part of his life. Follow their journey through an arrest, and hopefully a future together.
I was given a copy of the book by the author for an honest review.

What is Solomon's secret?

Janice Cole Hopkins comes through with another amazing story. Each of her books is thought provoking and has that touch of faith and romance that keeps me coming back for more. This is Solomon's Secret and he has a whopper of one! Promising his father on his deathbead that he would go west and keep his Jewish ancestry a secret, he finds himself robbed, penniless and taken in by the good heart of a pastor. He finds a space for him with Miriam, the woman in town that stakes in all the strays. Yes, strays. Those in need, those who are in a bad way and while frowned upon by some, she does what her heart tells her to. Taking in Solomon was not problem. Helpful and pleasant, he is a pleasure to have around. No one knows Solomon's secret though and it's eating at him. His past does come back to haunt him, and now the chance of him not coming back is growing. When Miriam finds out his secret, will she still want to be with him? What does Solomon realize now that he has been in Miriam's home? I loved this story. The message is clear, the love is pure and it made my heart happy.

Adam Skousen is perfectly cast for this story. His voice has a clear quality that makes him easy to understand and distinguish between characters. He connects with each one and the story and give a realistic quality that makes this listen that much more enjoyable. Loved it!

Awesome listen!

I love listening to these light hearted stories!! Ms. Hopkins' stories are fun to listen to and have Christian values throughout. I don't mind listening with my kids around as I know it won't be inappropriate. Her narrators always do an awesome job!!

To Thine Own Self Be True

This is a very Faith-driven book, showing acting one's beliefs versus discriminating based on them. Sent West by his dying father, to escape the stigma of his ancestry, our hero strives to live by the principles he has been taught; then he is caught up in circumstances beyond his control and has to make a literal escape and start anew. The novel flows powerfully through to the happily ever after, as one hiccup or roadblock after another is dealt with, and individuals discover the power of redemption.
