About this listen

She wrote the book on escaping a predator.... Now one is coming for her.

Faith Finley has it all: She’s a talented psychologist with a flourishing career, a best-selling author, and the host of a popular local radio program, Someone’s Listening, with Dr. Faith Finley. She’s married to the perfect man, Liam Finley, a respected food critic.

Until the night everything goes horribly wrong, and Faith’s life is shattered forever.

Liam is missing - gone without a trace - and the police are suspicious of everything Faith says. They either think she has something to hide or that she’s lost her mind.

And then the notes begin to arrive. Notes that are ripped from Faith’s own book, the one that helps victims leave their abusers. Notes like “Lock your windows. Consider investing in a steel door.”

As the threats escalate, the mystery behind Liam’s disappearance intensifies. And Faith’s very life will depend on finding answers.

Narrator is Distracting

The storyline was fairly good and kept me listening, even though the narrator was cringe-worthy. Narrator had a strange affectation where she was relatively monotone and dropped the pitch on the last syllable of nearly every sentence. I’ll definitely avoid her narrations in the future.

Surprisingly good!

It took a little bit to get into it, but the story has twists & turns, and I was actually surprised at the ending. Worth the credit

Fantastic Story

Didn’t see the climax coming, it was that good. Very enjoyable, narration done well. Only criticism is the constant booze references, just slightly annoying. But loved the story!

Unlikeable protagonist, good story

The narrator’s voice was kind of annoying but that fit considering that the protagonist was very unlikeable - whiny, self-victimizing. The story was really interesting and kept me guessing until close to the end. Once I figured it out (before the protagonist did), the first ending was still really solid.

On repeat

I enjoyed the book but at one point I questioned whether or not I had listened to a chapter again by accident. If I had an actual book in hand I would’ve gone back to look at the chapters because I felt two chapters were identical.

The narrator’s pronunciation

100% agreement with everyone who noted that the narrator’s “e’s” sounded closer to “a’s” (so ‘bed’ sounds more like ‘bad”. I’m dying to know if this is an affectation or regionalism.

Good story!

This kept me interested from the start. First time “reading” this author so I am always pensive of new authors or narrators. Oh - I do have to say that if you don’t drink for any reason or are trying not to drink there is a LOT OF DRINKING references in this book. Other than that it was written well and I liked the narrator. You might SORT OF see the ending coming but not all the details.

Good Pace

This was a fairly good story & moved along at a good pace. The ending was a bit sad, but overall it was a good story with some twists.

Can't get past the narrator....

As soon as I heard the prologue I had to pause to see if this is the narrator I swore I'd never listen to again- the voice of Kate in When She Returned By- Lucinda Berry. & unfortunately it is. Narrators can make or break a story. I made it to Ch. 5 before giving up. This is the 3rd book by Seraphina Nova Glass that I've read/started. The audiobook of A Quiet Street with Imogen Church- the story, the narration- 10/10! Then I bought a copy of The Vanishing Hour- amazing! I may try the paper version of this story as I didn't particularly dislike the story. It was purely the narration that has influenced my rating.
