Decent

Decent litrpg, the trope is profanity, so expect that. Looking forward to the new book & the new rules.

Much Fun

Ive enjoyed a lot of Aaron Oster's work. I picked this one up knowing it was a distant prequel to his SuperMage series. This one is a very different experience from his other books. It's, in my opinion, much more light hearted and a whole lot of fun. I really liked the contrast between the main character's unpolished, sailor mouthed personality and that of his much more refined companion. Its a good dynamic. I can only begin to speculate how these characters evolve into their centuries/millennia older SuperMage counter parts... as they're nothing at all alike presently in the story. Very much looking forward to the next installment.

pretty good

overall not a bad book. the story was solid, I did not predict the ending. its kind of annoying how easy this MC has it. all his problems are solved by his dog (totally OP) or some deus ex machina BS. and the ladies love him. like big MC boners for him. but altogether I like it. kinda funny, easy to listen to, good all around effort. there was one problem, the author has a gift for awkward turns of phrase, from time to time I was knocked out of the story by a weird sentence formation, I wish I had an example, but I wasn't taking notes.

Supermage really??!!

This book is wonderful! If you loved that foul mouth, rude, sassy butt kicking adventure, then this is the book for you. I especially love the part about the main character mentioning one of the author other books “Supermage”.

Feels more realistic.

I love LitRpg. this one feels more realistic due to the character always being upset or reacting in a normal way to things that arent normal to someone on Earth. It has good points in this book like the title suggests there are rules that change everyday. It is a different concept than rules that are always static. Good unexpected twists too. Can't wait for the second one.

Entertaining enough

Story:
Person from Earth USA transported to another world by some seemingly all powerful overlord to participate in a competition. The world has similar rules to an RPG fantasy game which the overlord seems to be enamored with. Due to this the story leans heavily and unapologetically into tropes. It is fine and entertaining enough even if there are things that make you scratch your head.

For instance one character is initially said to be 50 some years old, but there is a time difference (shorter years here so that's cool) so in earth time she is only 20 but she left home and eventually ended up in a city 10 years ago and became a prostitutes.....so was she 10 when she became a prostitute (even if it is shorter years she did stuff before hitting city)? I mean it doesn't matter other revelations make it moot but that entire idea of different time was brought in, made me scratch my head, and then was just dropped. It was like "hey look over there shinny" and we move on. I guess that kind of goes with the overall humor of the story but it, well, it just made me want to long wind mention it.

Charaters: My initial thought was main character is bland and inoffensive (as long as, like me, cussing does not bother you. If it does look elsewhere). Over time I decided I liked the characters. I think I only grew tired of the bird, everyone else, including baddies were fine and played their role.

Narrator: He was fine. Pretty generic but he pronounce everything clearly, did minor voices but mostly was a guy reading a story. He was better than some and worse than others but i would listen to more read by him.

Summary: The story was entertaining enough. I got this off a two for one sale i believe and am satisfied and looked to get the rest of the series. Now i see there is a 3 book set so I guess i am buying this twice to get the other 2 books in a 2 for 1. Would i recommend the individual books at 1 credit....no but mostly due to length (I finished this in one day). I think the 3 books for one credit may be a bargain however, we will see after I listen to them.
