About this listen

Prince Derek is set to marry Lady Lydia. Not his choice; not hers. It's his duty, so he tries to get to know his soon-to-be bride on their trek across the ocean to his kingdom.

When their ship goes down and she is lost at sea, Derek is reminded of an Old Tale, a legend in his lands. When a woman dies at sea, she might not be lost forever. He, and Lydia's handmaiden, Alyana, find a sea witch and learn that this legend might be true. But what will it cost to see Lydia again?

The Old Tales are all novellas and LGBTQ friendly.

I absolutely loved the twists at the end, and there were a bunch!

This was a great fantasy story. The author has created a wonderfully updated mythology around traditional mermaids, sirens and magic. The hero’s journey to find his love could be compared to a number of the usual fairy tales, but the author’s imagination built on the basics to make it so much more interesting. The performance by the narrator only enhances the story.
