Publisher's summary

Small but very determined Sophie wants to be a lady farmer when she grows up. Down in the potting shed, she has made a start and keeps flocks of free-range wood lice and herds of snails. Sophie's fond of most creatures but there's one she cannot stand: her prissy new neighbour Dawn!

Delightful Story

What a treasure Trove of listening delights in the entire series of Sophie Stories by the incomparable Dick King Smith, writer of children’s stories.
Each story when read brings you to such a wonderful feel good conclusion of this special little girl Sophie, who is so determined, with hair that looks like she has been through a hedge row backwards. And her entire family including her beloved Octogenarian Aunt Al who lives in the Highlands of Scotland on a most desired farm!(with PONIES of course.)
You and your kiddiewinkies are in for a real treat when you listen to the wonderful heart warming stories, read by Bernard Cribbens who has that special voice that puts us all at ease. Just curl up with the children and listen with them, you won’t want to miss a single word.

Sweet Story for Little Ones

If you could sum up Sophie's Snail in three words, what would they be?

sweet, caring, relatable

What did you like best about this story?

Each of the six chapters is a different story (loosely related to the others) about a 4 year old girl who loves animals (even woodlice). My kids (ages 5, 5, and 3) could relate to her character. What I like best about the book is that it is wholesome fun.

Book one! And precious!

Would you listen to Sophie's Snail again? Why?

Sophie has been introduced and there is a whole series from age 5 to age 7. She is smart as a whip and incredibly silly! She has mixed up words and she gets involved in all things 'animal'.

I live Sophie! She is most of us as little girls. She is so determined to be a Lady Farmer that one can't imagine any other result for Sophie's grown up years. She is brilliant!

Plan to giggle and giggle!

Audible? Could you put these books in a series for us readers? It sure would help!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sophie's Snail?

'And I'll have a small patch of corn.'
'Corn?! What for?'
'For cornflakes! What's wrong with you? Don't they teach you anything?'
