About this listen

Sure, being one of the deadliest assassins in the galaxy had its perks, but even the mightiest warrior could have a bad day. In this case, it was looking to be enough of them to fill an entire calendar.

It seemed the unthinkable had happened. Someone had actually targeted the Ghalian, an order of assassins known and feared across the systems. It was madness. Only a fool would go after the likes of them. But, it seemed, the galaxy had no shortage of fools.

Retaliation most bloody was in order, and one man stood ready to spring into action. Hozark was his name, and he was no ordinary man. He was a Master Ghalian, an assassin skilled in the ways of death. Practical, mechanical, magical, to him it made no difference. One way or another, he would get to the bottom of the attack and turn the tables on whoever dared strike out at his brothers and sisters.

Or so he thought until someone quite unexpected reared their head. An appearance that gave him pause. Someone he had thought long dead. His former lover. A revelation like that could throw even a master assassin for a loop. That she too was an assassin only complicated things more.

There was far more at play than was apparent on the surface, and Hozark would require all of his wits and skill to get to the bottom of it. And he most surely intended to do just that, no matter how high the body count. He just hoped to do so before more of his kin fell victim to the nefarious plot.

A sci-fantasy adventure across space, with magic, starships, sword battles, treachery, deadly beasts, and, of course, a healthy dose of snark and sarcasm.

A book that is just as good and doesn’t fall off or lose your interest from beginning to end. Loved it!!!

What A Fantastic Story (complete series)

The author did a fantastic job tying all 5 books together seemingly. The adventures and high action will keep a reader/listener enthralled. As a listener of over 75k minutes of stories, I need to make a big deal out of Eric Moore’s fantastic and most talented performance. Keeping up with that many different characters and their voices made the story come to life. Extremely well performed, hell and I thought RC Bray was good until I listened to this series.

Now that this series is in my collection, I will wait a year and re-listen to this story again. Yes, I found that good.

Good Listening,
Space Junkie

Very very predictable!

I listened to all 5 books, and had known who the protagonist was for some time. The series was worth the credit I spent. The narrator has an annoying habit of pronouncing the "w" in words like known.

A rather interesting, boarding on captivating tho a bit wanting in places.

Tldr; I liked it

The setting, universe, structure of the Ghalian and the council is interesting and I'd love to explore it more. The story is actually really good, despite the 4 stars. What makes it a bit wanting is that Baron tipped his hand way too early, which made the rest a bit frustrating. The wrap was satisfying, but considering the buildup, it was a bit anti climactic, though quite on pare withnwhat one might come to expect from the un-theatrical, businesslike assassin.

The characters are fun and interesting, A bit awkward at times, but the banter brought smiles and a few laughs. Baron got the important bit right, he makes them likeable and you grow to care for them.

There is a bit of lore which is mentioned or barely explored, which would certainly warrent a read, as Baron has created the base of his own universe to play with, which I hope he does.

I almost feel bad about the 4 stars, but that tip or foreshadowing seriously bothered me for the rest of the series.

Moore did a good job on the voices. Varied and immersive, though a few which fell a bit flat,æ. In his defence, that is of course all personal preference, and I've just come off another run through the Wheel of Time with Kramer and Reading, but I've tried not to let them overshadow him.

Particularly Particular

You could drink yourself silly if you took a shot everytime the author writes "particular" and "particularly". it's used almost every other sentence. the names are goofy but if you can get over that and how distracting saying particular 900 times, it's not bad.

Rich in story

The story is ripe with detail and the emotions flow through the words despite how much the characters hide their own

a truly marvelous tail

I was unsure when I started this series. Thinking maybe something along the lines of Assassin Creede. However, I was pleased to find a richer cast and whole some storyline. I would highly recommend this story for anyone with a passion for sci-fi.
