What is a maiden to do when her prince is not a prince, her hair won’t stop growing, and someone has cursed her to sleep for 300 years?

In Polyhymnia’s case, it seems expedient to get up with the help of a kiss or two, trailing her hair behind her, and find out who did it. Nothing quite works out as planned, however, and Poly can’t be sure if that’s because she never seems to be able to remember things like the mysterious spindle that keeps showing up around her, or if it’s the fault of the wizard who woke her but never stops long enough to explain anything.

Poly is determined in two things: One, that she will find out who cursed her to sleep and meddled with her memories. Two, that she will absolutely not fall in love with the irritating wizard who seems to need to keep kissing her back into the real world…

I was hooked from the first to the last sentence. This is an original fairy-tale told in a unique and captivating manner, with characters I loved. I am hoping that more of the series is turned into audiobooks.

This was my first introduction to the author and I fell in love with this book and it's unique quirky characters and world. Listening to it just reminds me how incredible it is. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the story to life and creating unique voices for each character. Highly recommend!

Delightful story and narration

This is a delightful story with a great narrator. I am very pleased with how the voice actor portrayed all the various characters, especially the main ones. I'm impressed with how well the actor captured Luck's vagueness, Poly's determination, and Onepiece's puppiness! Esther Wayne did justice to W.R. Gingell's whimsical story. Highly recommend!

I’ve lost count on my rereads and relisten to Spindle! Poly and Luck are just so much fun!

Content: clean, no swearing, no spice just kissing, mild violence

This is the second time I bought this book. I wish I could return it but since I did not use an Audible credit I cannot return it. Apparently I read the Kindle edition in 2017. I gave it two stars. I don't know that I finished it then either. I have listened for 2 1/2 hours and I still have no clue what is going on. I feel like I have missed some integral information. It is almost as if I have opened the book in the middle. It is beyond frustrating. I saw one person who reviewed this book that said if you can get past the beginning it gets better. I don't think I have it in me. I gave up on this in 2017 and I am giving up again in 2024.

I wish this were not an audiobook or that someone else had narrated it. Had to put it at 2 times the speed most of the time. There were a few places she talked normally and I had to rewind it and listen at normal speed. Then she’d go right back to stretching out each syllable. At least the voices for men could be distinguished from their lack of squeakiness. The marriageable women sounded like squeaky teenagers. Just ONCE the book actually described the protagonist sounding like that when she was surprised. So why was her voice like that the whole time? I was expecting more complexity from the narrator for the men’s voices in particular. It could just be that my tastes are to hear a more mature voice for women as well as men. But the voice of the child was also odd. The main protagonist is a young woman who is down to earth, so I thought her voice would be expressed differently. The beginning of the book is meant to be abstract. I had to reread the beginning a few times to know what was happening, because it is a dream inside, inside of a dream, inside of another dream. There is an old woman, a young woman (whose appearance shifts from child to young woman), and (it took some extra work to find out), two men. One was addressed as a wizard and the other as some sort of construct tied within the dream. This was where the narrator helped clarify what was written. A more silky, sly voice was used for the construct.

The Narrator was slow and didn’t have expression.
