About this listen

The war against the AI was won but a new threat is rising.

Hank Spears is content with his life as a scrapper until he unearths an artificial intelligence who warns him of a grave threat to all life in the universe. Since AI has long been outlawed and anyone caught harboring one is imprisoned or executed, the two must go on the run, fleeing into the far reaches of space.

They must avoid capture, all for the sake of those who would imprison them.

Looking for help from old friends to fight new enemies, Hank must find a way to save himself so that he can save the universe.

Can this simple scrapper become the hero the universe needs before it’s too late?

Find out in Star Scrapper, the thrilling new science fiction series from USA Today Bestselling Author J.N. Chaney and Matthew A. Goodwin.

Good beginning

So, when a series starts I look to see if I care about the main characters first, then the story has to make sense. This book hit both marks well enough to go for book 2.

Nice start to a new series

Character development was a little vague. Hope the next book will have more depth. The ending left a little to be desired. Should have just said “to be continued “.

Amazing take of sentient AI and it's interaction with a "working man" with a creative starfaring profession

Chaney's Variant publishing continues to excel in producing first rate current sci-fi! I hartily recommend this one.

Another great story

Took a while to get started. Liked the AI personality before the change, got used to the change. 2nd half was very good.

Heart searching

Really related to these characters and reminded me others have tough beginnings. Still these characters decided to do something positive for all. Great job!
Neil voice is soothing and pleasant. Also good job!

Fun Listen

Not a particularly well written or narrated story. Not one I'd save to a collection to read again. But a fun, light story with little violence, foul language & no bedroom scenes. Nice for that alone.

Something doesn't add up

I don't get the whole "saving the universe" thing. The main character just drops his whole life and says he's doing this because he wants to "save everyone" from a threat that kinda doesn't exist. Sure, code name extinction sounds scary but it's been 200 years and nothing has happenee, it's either not a threat anymore or waiting for someone to awaken it
