Publisher's summary

Sticky Faith delivers positive and practical ideas to nurture within your kids a living, loving faith that lasts a lifetime.

Research indicates that almost half of high school seniors drift from their faith after graduation.

Struck by this staggering statistic, and recognizing its ramifications, the Fuller Youth Institute (FYI) conducted the "College Transition Project" in an effort to identify the relationships and best practices that can set young people on a trajectory of lifelong faith and service.

This easy-to-listen guide presents both a compelling rationale and a powerful strategy to show parents how to actively encourage their children’s spiritual growth so that it will stick with them into adulthood and empower them to develop a living, lasting faith.

Written by Fuller Youth Institute Executive Director Dr. Kara E. Powell and youth expert Chap Clark - authors known for the integrity of their research and the intensity of their passion for young people - Sticky Faith is geared to spark a movement that empowers adults to develop robust and long-term faith in kids of all ages.

Further engage your family and church with the Sticky Faith Guide for Your Family, Sticky Faith curriculum, and Sticky Faith youth worker edition. Sticky Faith is also available in Spanish, Cómo Criar Jóvenes de Fe Sólida.

The Right Conversation

This book was hard for me to read because I am living in the middle of its target audience. I earnestly yearn for my children to follow Christ as I do and intensely want to “get it right” in how I raise them to give them all the tools they need for life while loving them unconditionally as they discover faith in God for themselves. While I did not agree with every perspective or bit of advice in the book, I believe this book is the “right” conversation. I appreciated the scholarly statistical approach to the information interspersed with practical advice and creative ideas. I have already modified my approach to my teenagers based on reading this book, and since doing so, have had some phenomenal life-shaping conversations with them. I am grateful for this book and recommend it as valuable to parents of teens, pastors, and youth pastors particularly.

Excellent tool for a concerned teenager mom

Excellent study of the teenagers behavior. I am so grateful to the authors and I am so glad I read and heard this book and audiobook before my daughter started high school. It gave me very good ideas and advices before she finishes middle school. I recommend it to all parents. Very good research! Liliana Bonilla

Great Ideas Yet Unrealistic Ones, Too!

Would you try another book from Kara E. Powell and Chap Clark and/or Jay Charles?

I would check it out of a library and scan for good ideas from each chapter, but would not own a book by them.

Could you see Sticky Faith being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No, this book is more of a sharing of ideas than a story line.

Reactivates what we know at a gut level

What made the experience of listening to Sticky Faith the most enjoyable?

We need to be intentional as parents to create a community for our kids to grow in that makes up when and where we cannot, and extends other platforms for our kids to take full advantage of their opportunity for salvation and faith.

Brings new meaning to "Takes a community!"

This book has changed the way I see and think about not just my own children, but my friends' children and especially the teens in my community. I so appreciate the years or dedicated research collected and compiled here. A great (and MUST) read for anyone who has kids, has family members who have kids, have friends who have kids, lives in a community where there are kids present, or attends a church where there are kids in the congregation... pretty much anyone who isn't living under a rock.

Sound advice, holy wisdom, Godly social science...

a good representation of the current approach to teen faith formation in Reformation and Evangelical communities.
