Publisher's summary
He’s the new silver fox recruit at Sentinel Security.
The hot, tough former Marine Raider.
And he won’t touch her because he works with her brother.
Real estate agent Magnolia “Nola” Newhouse has it all. Okay, not quite all. She loves her work, has a growing collection of designer heels, and is about to become an aunt…she’s just missing the love of her life. She’s watched her brother and her best friend fall in love, and Nola wants that too.
When she first sees the big, rugged silver fox across the bar, she feels an instant connection, and knows he does too. They share a passionate kiss, then he discovers who her brother is…
Former Marine Knox “Stone” Holman needed a change. He’s left California and taken a job at New York’s top security firm: Sentinel Security. What he never expected was to lay eyes on a tiny, curvy woman and feel his world tip upside down. But Knox lives by a code, which means his co-worker’s beautiful sister is off-limits. Besides, Nola has love, marriage, and kids stamped all over her, and he’s past that.
But when Nola goes to inspect an empty penthouse and accidentally witnesses an execution-style murder, everything changes. She’s on the run and being hunted by the mob, and Knox will do everything to keep her safe.
Running the gauntlet of the New York streets, Knox and Nola will discover just how hot their attraction runs. Knox is determined to protect her, and Nola is determined to make him hers.
*** An action-packed Sentinel Security novella

Story
In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley asked her daughter to help finally finish her long-gestating memoir. A month later, Lisa Marie was dead, and the world would never know her story in her own words, never know the passionate, joyful, caring, and complicated woman that Riley loved and now grieved. Riley got the tapes that her mother had recorded for the book, lay in her bed, and listened as Lisa Marie told story after story about smashing golf carts together in the yards of Graceland, about the unconditional love she felt from her father, about being upstairs, just the two of them.

Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot. Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet. Then the brutal murder of a young woman—the latest in a string of deaths across the coast—confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.

Story
Ta-Nehisi Coates originally set out to write a book about writing, in the tradition of Orwell’s classic “Politics and the English Language,” but found himself grappling with deeper questions about how our stories—our reporting and imaginative narratives and mythmaking—expose and distort our realities. In the first of the book’s three intertwining essays, Coates, on his first trip to Africa, finds himself in two places at once: in Dakar, a modern city in Senegal, and in a mythic kingdom in his mind.

Fast-paced and exciting story!
Nola Newhouse is the half-sister to Nick, who works for Sentinel Security in New York City. She’s meeting the guys from her brother’s work at a local pub. She is really intrigued by a man she meets there, named Knox Holman…Until he decides that nothing can happen between them because he is the latest Sentinel Security hire, and he doesn’t want to start off by hooking up with a co-worker’s sister.
Nola is a realtor, who just scored a real estate coup, by getting a highly-sought-after listing of a luxury penthouse. When she decides to pop in to see how it looks the next morning, she inadvertently witnesses a crime. This makes her a target for a really bad guy. Knox is nearby and helps her avoid death by keeping her away from the assassins trying to keep her from telling anyone what she witnessed. This part of the book is tense, action-packed, and fast-paced! The bulk of the book takes place over just a couple of days, and be prepared to read it without stopping. You won’t want to put it down. Wow!
There are some extremely fun scenes in this book, as well as the requisite danger and some violence. There are some good times, too, if you’ll use your imagination just a bit! Well done, Anna Hackett!
Stella Bloom and Teddy Hamilton do an amazing job with the narration of this story. It’s a relatively fast listen; however, these narrators are experts at bringing this story to life. They are also really good at keeping each character’s voice distinct from the other characters. This is worth a listen.

Loved returning to Sentinel Security
I loved that Anna took us back to the Sentinel Security series, and to give Nola, Nick's sister, a HEA. Knox and Nola's story was more fast tracked than the others of the series, given it's a novella, and I did find myself wishing for more relationship building. However, it's nice to get a super quick story once in awhile. There was plenty of the action, danger, and suspense. Narration was terrific.

Whew not so much .
I didn't like this one to much .. The action part was pretty good but the romance not so much.. I have listened to many books by this author and loved almost all of them but this goes down on the bottom of my dislikes.
The romance is so rushed and almost childish to the point I am still wondering if this was really written by this author... The one good thing is it didn't cost that much but then again your only getting a little over 2 hours worth of story..
I love Sentinel Security and I guess I should have looked closer to what this book was about ... but it's just a given when I see Sentinel Security I get the book..
This is just my take on this so please judge for yourself ..
