Something evil lives inside Jen's crawlspace.

And it's trying to get out.

Haunted by childhood demons, Evan returns to Storberry to find darkness threatens the town.

When a strange storm cripples the town's communication systems, a hideous monster begins stalking the night. Two teenagers align with Evan and a tiny group of survivors, but not everyone is who they seem.

Can they survive until sunrise?

Dead and evil

This book may be a little long but once it gets going it is a a good old fashioned vampire book. There is some predictability but the twist and turns in the plot make up for it. I loved it true old fashioned vampire book like what I grew up with.

Finally, vampires are evil again.

The narrator is just okay. He is a little dry and his delivery doesn't change that much for each character. A few plot holes but they don't really matter. It's a very enjoyable story with realistic dialogue.

Okay but not great

This tale owes a large debt to Salem’s Lot. The narrator was good with the voices but he makes a lot of mispronunciations. For instance he reads boughs as bows. The story falls a little flat in places. The end wasn’t very good for my tastes.

Curious

This was an odd one, in good and bad ways. It has a super strong opening about the crawl space and I was really hoping that that plot line would be a major thread throughout the story. This book took a whole different turn, however, and while most of it was quite good, I couldn't help but be a little disappointed by the lack of 'crawlspace plot line.' This is definitely on me and not on Dan Padavona, who wrote a pretty good tale in 'Storberry.' Paul-Alexandre Petit does an excellent job of narration here!

Storberry

This is probably a 3.5\5* for me. It was a roller coaster... I really liked it, it wore on me, it was exciting, it drug on. I loved the scenes leading up to the end of the book, but the ending seemed off to me for some reason. I have read some really bad vampire books. This is not a bad vampire book. It was good and reminded me of books I used to read before everyone wrote about vampires and zombies. That said, there were some inconsistencies and I had a hard time moving away from them.

Juvenile 30 Days of Night

This story falls flat on every front. The characters are boring, the dialogue sounds like it was written by a high schooler. Like I said in the title, it's plot is similar to 30 Days of Nigh, but it drags on and on and on with boring action scenes, completely predictable twists, no atmosphere and a very sparing amount of gore. I've listened to a couple of Grieg Beck books on Audible and it kind of reminded me of his writing style. Overall, I'd say this is meant for a teenage audience.

Now for the narrator: I've heard a decent amount of bad voice acting on Audible and this guy is near the top of that list. He frequently and consistently mispronounces common words, sometimes even adding extra syllables. His character voices are horrendous, ranging from angsty teen to flamboyant, whiny teen, with an occasional deep anime voice. I don't think a good voice actor would have made this book worth listening to, but finishing this book with this narrator was a challenge.

Meh

Why have a narrator who can’t pronounce words correctly? The female voices aren’t good either. I hate when male narrators make the woman sound whiny or super high-pitched and breathy.
