Publisher's summary

Two-thirds of executives say their organizations don't have the capabilities to support their strategy. In Strategy That Works, Paul Leinwand and Cesare Mainardi explain why. They identify conventional business practices that unintentionally create a gap between strategy and execution. And they show how some of the best companies in the world consistently leap ahead of their competitors.

Unable to Finish Due to Narrator

I couldn't finish this book. I couldn't finish the first chapter. The narrator's voice was beyond frustrating with terribly chosen inflection. Nearly every sentence rose at the end as if he was asking a question. I just couldn't.

Good insights and case studies

Closing the gap from strategy to execution. The case studies of different companies from IKEA to Apple, Natura to Lego and others help bring out the key learning points around the right to win, what makes the company truly unique. The section on mergers and acquisitions was very interesting if not dizzying with the sheer number of companies and divisions chopping and changing hands

Solid strategy book

I thought the content of this book was really strong with some relevant examples. It’ll be interesting to see how the companies they profiled stand up overtime, similar to Jim Collins good to great.

I did find the narrators voice to be somewhat annoying and difficult to listen to an audiobook format. I will, however, buy the hardcopy version so I can have some of the concepts for future reference.

My recommendation is to buy this book in hardcopy format versus in audiobook

Narrator makes it uncomfortable

I really wanted to listen to this book but after a short time the voice was too much.

I guess I'll have to read the print version some day.

The material is interesting, but the voice makes it sound like the nasal professor from high school biology is reading a textbook.

Good book ruined by a terrible narrator

After over 100 books this is the worst narrator I have had to listen to...just painful

Mediocre work made worse by terrible narration.

Mediocre work made worse by terrible narration. Read or listen to Good Strategy, Bad Strategy instead.
