Horror stars, action heroes, matinee idols, leading ladies - Suspense offered them all a showcase that expanded and emphasized their distinctive talents. Peter Lorre and Edward G. Popular comedians - like Bob Hope and Milton Berle - were also regularly featured. Story
In the darkest reaches of the human psyche, there is no corner quite so dark as the fear of nameless, inevitable Fate. With its startling twists and its mocking laughter, Fate can take any of us at any time. We confront this fear by taking a grim satisfaction with the cruelties that Fate metes out to others. Because if it's happening to someone else, it isn't happening to us...right? The Whistler, the sneering narrator of each story, is the personification of Fate - bringing characters to their grim, well-deserved destinies with considerable panache.

Well Done Series
Extremely enjoyable. I have several of these “Suspense” Recordings and look forward to my nighty dose. Having heard references to radio shows from my family for years, I feel that I can now be more involved in their world through these plays.-thank you

Interesting, But Not As Fun As I'd Hoped
I'm still kind of undecided about this. I am so used to the more recent adaptations and full cast recordings of books from Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and many others, which are usually 1 to 2 hours long, if not longer. They are able to give fully realized characters and stories in the radio program format. I didn't notice that each story here would only be 30 minutes minus short ads and introductions. Thirty minutes is enough time to tell a story but it's not enough time to know anything about the characters. It just kind of fell flat for me. I was excited to maybe find some new to me short story authors, and I really thought I'd love this, but I'm just not that into it. Sound quality can vary but it's good for it's age. The actors and production value are both excellent.
