Publisher's summary

A fetching robber, an unscrupulous rogue, and a daring risk to die for

A crafty scheme that doesn't exactly go as planned....

A thief of hearts

A female of Tempest Swift's brains and beauty should be fending off suitors, not hiding in the shadows, boldly robbing coaches. But lean times leave her with a family to provide for, until she's shot from her horse while making her escape. Waking as the pampered prisoner of a sinfully handsome gentleman has her pulse pounding for all the wrong reasons. His suggestion she be his mistress is shocking enough, but he has more on his clever mind....

A desperate noble

Cut from a longed-for inheritance due to hell-bent living, a foiled robbery provides Connor Amberson with an daring solution, passing off a ragamuffin thief as his long-lost cousin to win back his grandfather's favor. But producing the supposed sole survivor of a tragic accident stirs dangerous troubles, both from those hungry to inherit and within Connor's jaded heart, as his true reward becomes something he never expected....until about to lose it.

A fun love story with excitememnt

I like the way Lauren Giddings set up the story and enjoyed the way Teri Clark Linden narrated it. I would not have minded using a credit for this story if I didn't get a review copy.
I received the audiobook version of the story in exchange for my unbiased review.

Slow and Predictable

I stopped listening once then picked it up again and I just can't get into this book. I just don't care enough about the characters. *Spoiler alert* This reminds me of My Fair Lady in parts. The H is held up by the h and trains her to be a lady so that she can help him gain his childhood home. they fall in love but one of his exes knows the secret. I can only assume that the ex spills the secret, he loses his home, but realizes he wants the h more than an old house. His grandfather gives him the house anyway, they live HEA. OK. idk if that's really what happens since I DNF.

Rollercoaster

This is one of those books that I liked, but didn't love. There were a couple of things that annoyed me and kept me from truly enjoying it. The story is wonderful in its depth of feeling, mystery, reconnection and what passes for love. The characters, both main and supporting, are irrepressible, conflicted, yet honest to a fault. Tempest Swift does what she can to keep her family comfortable and fed and, along with her brother, intends to rob someone of means on the highway tonight. Connor Amberson and his friend, George Morley, are returning home by carriage, with the married women they're entertaining for the night, when they are robbed at gunpoint. Connor gets off a shot, and there's a body on the road, but he wasn't prepared to see that it was a woman highwayman. Not wanting her to die, he takes her to his home where she can recover, but he sees something in her that's wholly different and that might help him secure his birthright. Connor's grandfather is one of his favorite people in the world, but he's unhappy with how Connor has lived his life as a rake and a gadabout. In order to get into his good graces, Connor is going to "return" his dead cousin, Holly, to his grandfather who loved her so much. From the beginning, Connor was Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde with the passion, but cruelty and dismissiveness he showed toward Tempest. I spent a great deal of the story weighed down with a sense of sadness and anger at Connor. His behavior went way beyond rakish, all the way toward being an ass. He never proved to me that he loved Tempest, not with how often he rubbed her face in the fact that he had mistresses everywhere and then ordered her from his sight if he didn't like what she said or how she said it. This would have been a 4* book because of the premise and execution, but Connor ruined it for me. The ending was rushed and, although it's a happy ending, there wasn't enough payoff of time with the couple and family.
Teri Clark Linden did an exceptional job with the narration. I enjoyed her dynamic voice, articulation and the perfect accent for each of the characters.

Lengthy back and forth

Love the cover and enjoyed this story. Truly, a story of love at first sight ( or should be at a least a second sight) and the heart just knows. Connor was very harsh and Tempest was very smart/witty and patient. Always look forward with what Tempest was about to say or do. The many times they had their falling out, I thought there will a different ending to this.

If you want a fiery, unusual courtship and love story, I would recommend you try this one. I think you will be highly entertained as I was (NOTE: Has some mature scenes)

I received a free audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
