About this listen

I just wanted to get my hands on his beans.

Four years ago, I had a ridiculous crush on my sister's boyfriend. But when they moved away together, I put Beck out of my mind and my heart. But now he's back, and roasting the best coffee in Vermont. I need to convince him to supply the Busy Bean. And I need more of those kisses we accidentally shared outside the coffee shop. He still makes my heart race faster than a triple shot of espresso.

She should be off limits, but instead, she's pushing mine.

Her sister burned my life to the ground, so Haley Elliot is the last woman I should bring into my bed. Although our business relationship is giving way to something more than a fine grind. Neither of us can help ourselves. And what's worse, I think I'm falling for her.

But it's a small town, and ours is a big secret. And when her sister blows back into town, suddenly the coffee isn't the only thing brewing....

Contains mature themes.

Great chemistry, but a gaping pothole

Man I just loved the chemistry between these two. The tension build-up all the way to the river scene, was really well done! Overall, I just thought the relationship between these two was so sweet (and hot!).

HOWEVER. Having the love interest be the MFC’s sister‘s ex is really bothersome. But you could make that work if you do one (preferably both) of two things:

1.) justify it with equally questionable behavior on the other side of the table (I.e. sister steals MFC’s boyfriend beforehand, etc.). To me, mental health issues and even the inherent toxicity of the sister still did not justify getting together with her ex and not communicating it to her.

And 2.) a discussion needs to be had. Period. Alllll of this tension, the very conflict between Beck & Hailey began BECAUSE OF THE SISTER BEING HIS EX! How do you not properly resolve this? I find it infuriating and positively unbelievable that there was no real resolution to this, especially given the entire conflict was centered on this the entire book. This was a big miss in my opinion. I don’t buy (or accept) having your parents have the conversation for you (what?!). Both Beck & Hailey needed to have the conversation with the sister. It’s egregious to have left this out of the story.

Need a follow up book

I absolutely enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I really wish there were more of this book. I connected so much with the characters and the story. I couldn’t put it down.

Love that there was no bg misunderstanding!

Yes, there was drama, but it was interesting. All those big misunderstandings due to bad communication get so old in this genre. Glad this story doesn’t have it

Refreshing to hear a couple navigating together

Sometimes stories are about just perceived issues or unnecessary angst but not here. I appreciated an actual issue that the couple and a family needed to navigate. I am so excited to listen to the rest of the stories in this series or by this author. I can’t believe they are included in Audible plus right now but if they weren’t I would happily support this author. Over 700 books in my collection…. I’ve never received any titles from an author…. I love supporting authors that help me get through all my momma chores. Thanks Sarah Mayberry

Loved it.

These two were so real and sweet. There wasn’t the far fetched fake character thing going on. I loved the real problems they had and the love for each other. 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sweet story, sweet series

The overall story is cute and quaint. I am a Vermonter though, so certain inaccuracies were difficult for me to get past. Colbury sounds like it is supposed to be Waterbury. I also don't want folks coming here and expecting certain things based on this series. The Busy Bean sounds like a cross between Capitol Grounds and North Branch coffee shops. We have had bad flooding, two years in a row which have changed a lot of things. Anyway, the MML Beck had dated the MFL Haley's sister, who ends up being diagnosed with a mental health condition and there is angst around this. Sarah Mayberry handles the subject well. Narrators Virginia Rose and Aiden Snow portray MFL Haley and MML Beck very well.

Over all, the story lines are good and I am trying to get past details that make me wonder if the authors have actually come to Vermont, which are distracting for me.

Love this new series

This is a great start for this new series. It's a spin-off from the True North Series by Sarina Bowen which I enjoyed immensely. The new characters Hailey and Beck touched on a sensitive subject of mental health and how it effects all involved. This story is life for real and relatable. Plus having the old friends included was a treat. Can't wait to read the next one in the series.
