Publisher's summary

The Eat, Pray, Love for busy executives, Take Off Your Shoes invites the listener to join a journey of self-rediscovery.

If 10 Percent Happier made you more mindful, and Wild more adventuresome, then this book will ground you and help you find your soul.

A hard-charging CEO of a large enterprise, Ben Feder discovers that he is losing the very things that sustained him over his years of business success. Unsettled by his insight and determined to rebuild family relationships and rejuvenate his sense of purpose, he risks his career on a life-altering physical and emotional journey. Together with his wife and children, Feder sets off for an exotic island on a self-prescribed sabbatical year. That experience transforms them all.

The writing is honest and moving, baring the author’s innermost struggles and fears, and enticing the reader to share his quest. As Feder navigates the thrills and pitfalls of his time away, he draws us into remarkable examinations of values and priorities in adult life.

A Terrific Book

As inspiring as it is fun to read. Ben Feder takes you on his and his family's journey from Tribeca to Africa, to Bali, Singapore, Java and back. The family put their typically modern, successful, and over scheduled lives on hold to search together for what is really important in life - building strong family ties and memories, and learning to live deliberately with gratitude and compassion. A must read for others seeking the same.

An inspiring book & a great read! A must read!

This book is a great read, Ben’s story is very genuine and you feel like you get to know him and his family reading it (you also get a glance at the life of a successful gaming executive and investor as well as explore life in Bali). it really resonated with me, truly inspired me and made me reflect on my own life and career decisions, it’s the kind of books that makes you look more inward and helps you make better decisions going forward. It helps you prioritize your life better and realize how important family is and career is not everything, no matter how successful you are. I’d say it’s a great book for anyone at the crossroads - if you’ve been considering a sabbatical and living abroad it will definitely inspire you to do it. In addition, this book is very well written and a very pleasant read! I read it twice and recommended to colleagues and friends and think this book also makes a great gift. I hope Ben will write more:)!
