About this listen
NAMED A BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR SO FAR BY VOGUE, HARPER'S BAZAAR, W MAGAZINE, AND VANITY FAIR! • MEET THE MILANIS. FAST-FOOD HEIRESSES, L.A. ROYALTY, AND YOUR NEWEST REALITY TV OBSESSION • "Think the Kardashians meet Little Women and Crazy Rich Asians…An indelible, uproarious snapshot of young womanhood."—Vogue
“Delightfully twisted and heartfelt...Khakpour is a satirist extraordinaire."—Kevin Kwan • “Funny, devastating, and filled with dazzlingly accurate observations about the absurdities of our age, this is a story and family that will stay with you long after you finish."—Marjan Kamali
Iranian-American multimillionaires Ali and Homa Milani have it all—a McMansion in the hills of Los Angeles, a microwaveable snack empire, and four spirited daughters. There’s Violet, the big-hearted aspiring model; Roxanna, the chaotic influencer; Mina, the chronically-online overachiever; and the impressionable health fanatic Haylee. On the verge of landing their own reality TV show, the Milanis realize their deepest secrets are about to be dragged out into the open before the cameras even roll.
Each of the Milanis—even their aloof Persian cat Pari—has something to hide, but the looming scrutiny of fame also threatens to bring the family closer than ever. Dramatic, biting yet full of heart, Tehrangeles is a tragicomic saga about high-functioning family dysfunction and the ever-present struggle to accept one’s true self.

Named a Best Book of the Year So Far by Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, and W Magazine
Named a Most Anticipated Book of the Year by TIME, New York Post, The Week, The National, Nylon, Bustle, Our Culture, Lit Hub, The Millions, Electric Literature, Katie Couric Media, Seattle Times, Chicago Review of Books, Alta Journal, Write or Die, and Library Journal
"[An] irresistible voice…Compulsively readable…Think the Kardashians meet Little Women and Crazy Rich Asians…An indelible, uproarious snapshot of young womanhood."—Vogue
“Like Little Women on an ayahuasca trip, Tehrangeles is delightfully twisted and heartfelt. If you set a TikTok mukbang at a Crazy Rich Persian wedding, you’d still have a long way to go to capture the extravagant eccentricities of the Milani sisters. Khakpour is a satirist extraordinaire who astutely captures the zeitgeist of a culture and a place where ‘reality’ is just something you livestream and truth is a billion times stranger than fiction. The antics and agonies of the Milani family had me googling pet psychics and turning the pages gleefully—at turns surprised and horrified, but always charmed and laughing so hard."—Kevin Kwan, author of Crazy Rich Asians and Lies and Weddings
“[A] biting, clever tragicomic…Think: Reality TV, Los Angeles McMansions, and a fast food empire.”—Nylon

Absolutely no plot. Performance was extremely difficult to get through. Was really looking forward to it but was very disappointed.

Al stood out the most
I think the father’s upcoming story from Iran to Los Angeles was interesting to hear.
I think Roxanna was the most annoying character and reminded me of girls I went to high school with.

Disappointed American Persian
I am of Persian heritage. I was hoping for some genuinely Persian culture alongside light fiction. What I got was a reader's intolerable narration, a Kardashian wannabe family and junkie writing. I'll never get those 10 hours back. #Disappointed

Perfect Narrator
I loved Mikaela’s interpretation of this book! She really brought all the characters to life and made this crazy family seem relatable. The satire is spot on (from an Angeleno) and so funny at times, and so real at other times. I had a lot of fun listening to this book!!

Unable to Finish Because of Narration
I was excited about this book after hearing an interview with the author, but I think I'm going to try the book version instead because the narration in this version is so poor. The cadence of each sentence seems almost exactly the same, and I find myself wrapped up in how the narrator is saying the words instead of the story, so it's difficult to truly rate how I feel about the story. I'm disappointed in this Audible book.

Young women’s perspectives and issues of growing up rich
I enjoyed the lists and descriptions of fashion and food. Also the parent’s backgrounds. I felt more current in the world of social media and how ppl make connections

Awful narration
The narration was so atrocious—you could hear the narrator breathe. Very distracting. The story was just awful too. Who cares about the cats thoughts? It was so boring.
