Publisher's summary

Laurel Chin led an ordinary, comfortable life.

While many might think waitressing wasn't a great job, Laurel Chin loved it. She enjoyed meeting the customers and working side by side with her family in their small Jamaican-Chinese fusion restaurant on the edge of Birmingham's Chinatown. Like everyone else, she'd been astounded at first when the aliens appeared, but as they offered friendship and trade, she soon lost most interest in the news about them. If there was anything to worry about, she trusted Prime Minister Simms and Parliament would let the public know. She settled back into her routine of work, Sunday lunch at her mother's, and hanging out with her sister.

Tellan was honoured to be named Ambassador.

Tellan knew the Mylos were in need of fresh genetic trade. The humans of Earth were a bit less advanced socially and technologically than their past trade partners, so great care had to be taken when offering treaty terms. If all went smoothly, he'd soon see human institutions of higher learning teaching Mylos science and philosophy and Bride Registry Centres open across the globe. Then the Bride Fleet assigned to Earth would arrive and Tellan could return home for less fraught diplomatic duties.

All was not as it first seemed.

Neither Tellan nor Laurel knew that their governments had already made certain arrangements. Laurel definitely would have been wary of taking social media quizzes had she known what was about to happen. As for Tellan, he was matched and that was that, no matter how much he disapproved of the method used to do so. They had to try to make this work - the fate of both their worlds and a galactic civilisation sat upon their shoulders. It was duty, but if the match was accurate, it was also a fated love.

A fun & entertaining listen!

I liked the storyline and the skill of the narrator!
Cover Art was attractive and informative about our hero. I would recommend this read/listen to all 18yrs of age and over. The rating I gave was well deserved by author and narrator.

An Interesting Romance

This is the first science fiction romance I've listened to so I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it, but I was very impressed. The story was interesting and the narrator did a fabulous job. If this is a genre that you enjoy I would highly recommend this book.

Diverse Characters for once

I was totally thrown off starting out the characters. The main character comes from Jamaica decent and has a British accent. I am usually not into listening to English accents because I cannot understand fully but the narrator did very well and the story was cute. #AudiobookObsession

Such a great story

I had a blast listening to this story. Even though there were plenty of political aspects in this book between the Mylos and the planet Earth there was plenty to keep things enjoyable. There were several times that I laughed so loud my husband heard me in another floor of the house. As for the narrator I really enjoyed how she handled all the different characters and accents.

Alien love

For once the government gets it right and matches a human and an alien who are fated mates.
Laurel adjusted quickly and seemed to blossom under Tellan's guidance . Cute and entertaining story. Not a fan of this narration, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of this story.

Enjoyable

A really enjoyable read for someone that wants something a little bit different. Good characters that I would love to see more from. Excellent narration from Ashley, her male voice is brilliant.

No cliffhanger!

The story is very well written, and executed. Both the author and narrator are very talented!

now, allow me to fangirl! HOLY EFFING CRAP! Is it wrong to want to sign up to be a bride candidate?! So very well done, a well thought out plot and storyline. I can't wait to read others and then read the entire series again!

Different look at aliens needing mates

I did enjoy this story of aliens developing a mating service to find eligible mates. Laurel is a strong female and speaks her mind even to powerful leaders. Some of this is due to the fact that she knows Tellan is backing her. He wants her to feel comfortable in her new environment. He does have her physical and emotional needs in mind. I do wish there was more compassion between them. The ending did seem a little abrupt. The narrator did a good job. But I personally thought that she did make the alien voices a little too robotic sounding. I received this Audible book in exchange for an honest review. I did enjoy listening to this book and would listen to more of this author's books.
